Good primer, but not enough
This book is great to give you a very brief overview of the topics on the EPPP but the quiz questions/app and editing and writing leave a lot to be desired.-Editing— the editors and proof-readers did not do a great job. Spaces in the middle of words, missing letters, random numbers in sentences with no context, inconsistent text organization… honestly it was amusing to count how many errors I found as I read and worked through the book.-writing— I know this book is written with the assumption that you’ve had 5-7 years in a doctoral program to learn the content, however, some of this content is learned in year one, semester one and the assumption that it’s easily remembered does a poor job in connecting with the reality of test takers. Initials never fully explained, just placed in the middle of the text without context clues or an ability to figure it out. The writing was fragmented, as if the authors wanted to make bullet points but had to follow a traditional paragraph structure. The lack of diagrams that could explain the points seemed to do a huge disservice to their work.— quizzes/app: I could not get the app to work on my phone or tablet. All I could do was access via browser. The quizzes are nice, but they’re just the same questions in the back of the chapter. If you’re buying this for practice questions, don’t. They have a good system of marking whether you need to review the question again and sort the info on to a 3 card method (know, maybe know, unknown) but the questions don’t feel as hard as I’ve been told they are going to be.Overall, I give this 3 stars; 1 for affordability and portability (the ebook access as well as a relatively slim volume to tote around). 1 star for content, because all of the testing areas are organized well into the book instead of in isolation like other types of materials, this way you get to be refreshed on the interrelated concepts. 1 star because the post-chapter quizzes were a good way to assess areas where you need to further revise in my opinion. I took off 1 star due to the ease of questions (not nearly as bad as other study materials, but not as hard as expected) and 1 star off for all of the editorial problems, app problems and lack of tables/diagrams that would really have helped the content. I guess the study opportunities of drawing/writing my own were good, but the clarity would have been improved.

The digital code that we get to be able to access the mobile app was unable to be read after the scratch off and I want able to get the app.

Pretty good
Just took EPPP and passed first time. This was my primary study book. It has some grammar error and some of the answers for the quizzes are contradicted in the text, but it's pretty good. The only book you need. Recommended.

Amazing book
I love this book. In 2014 i bought the 1st edition, which I was never able to read it until 2019. In this book, I found many theories i was not able to find in expensive programs, so I also got the second edition. I think this book is well organized with easy comprehension and provides an overall idea of the content material of eppp. By combining the material from expensive programs with this book, we will be better prepared for the exam.

The app is great so you can practice anywhere with your cell phone
Really helpful - comes with an app so you can test yourself. I passed the EPPP on the first try. I highly recommend this book - but also recommend that you use multiple other study methods for the exam.

Not the best...
Although this book has a lot of good information for the EPPP exam, it is organized in a way that makes it difficult to follow. I did like the app and the test questions, however.

Not worth the money and so many typos!
This book is an edited volume, so the quality of the chapters varies considerably. The editors say the book is written by "experts," although grad students and postdocs are included in the author list, so this seems dubious. Also, there are a lot of formatting/typographical errors throughout the book, which makes it hard to absorb the material.

Spelling mistakes and word mix ups
I noticed quickly that this book has many errors, including different answers in the book and the app for the same question. Spelling errors are throughout the book. And it also contains references to material that will be followed up on in later sections only for the material to not be included. For example, the sensation section mentions the Bayesian approach and how it will be described in the following perception section, but it isn't. Another example is the use of the term culture bias, only for it to not be included; rather, confirmation bias is explained instead. There are other errors as well.All-in-all, it is a good resource to find out what you need to focus on for studying, but the errors throughout the book make me leery of taking anything in the book as 100% correct. And for the price, you'd think someone could've proofread as well as checked for consistency.

It's a basic exam book.
It provides you with the basic foundations of exam questions.Yes, the editing was poorly conducted. But the book still provides basic exam prep books.
