My cat absolutely loves these bonito flakes, she goes wild the second she hears the bag. They’re a perfect little treat, and I like that the bag is generously sized so it lasts a while. The zip-lock closure is a big plus too, because it keeps everything fresh and makes it easy to store without making a mess. If you have a picky cat or just want a high-value treat, these are a hit in our house.

Was buying a similar ,few dollars cheapoer brand, that would arrive mostly all crumbs,and looked a little burnt. My cats who normally love, snubbed it. This brand they Love. I ordered seperately,so it wouldnt get bounced around w other items,turning to crumbs. Arrived intact. Cats went crazy for it. Looks/smells fresh,not burnt or stale.

I purchased this out of desperation for a cat that wouldn't eat his thyroid meds. After months of trying other delivery options, I needed something new. He LOVES these flakes and at first, hiding the pill in a pill pocket wrapped in the bonito flakes worked but he soon figured it out. Now, I cut the pill, put it in a number 5 gel capsule, wet the bonito flake slightly, then wrap the capsule carefully with the flake and place it on a plate or on his food. It usually workds great!

My cat isn’t all that food motivated but she has absolutely lost her mind over these. They have surpassed all other treats as the favorite. Even her greenies, which I didn’t think would ever be beat. I don’t think any car has ever loved anything as much as she loves these. She screams at me every morning and all day for more bonito flakes. I don’t even need an alarm clock anymore. She will literally jump on my head in the morning if I don’t get up and give her bonito flakes. She is a fiend and I am scared. I had to hide the big bag and put a small amount in a plastic container, which also helps to mask the strong fish smell. She knocks the container on the floor and I caught her chewing on it once. This is not normal behavior for her. I got these to replace a much more expensive bonito flake I was using and she was only kind of “meh” about. I thought this was too big of a bag when I got it in the mail but she would probably eat the whole bag in a sitting if I let her.

I've just recently been exploring more Japanese cooking and decided to buy a bag of these to use in rice and soup dishes. This bag at 3.52 oz. is a LOT of smoked thin bonito strips and flakes! I have placed them in a 1.5L jar with the rubber gasket and wire bale. If you don't keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator they can go bad (or grow old) fairly quickly is what I have read. I think the flavor is something that is an "acquired" taste so I recommend going lightly, maybe a pinch or two, on the amount you might toss into something, until you decide how much is enough for your taste....work your way up to larger quantities. There are nice large, very thin pieces in the bag and therefore it doesn't take much on top of a rice dish to give it that smoked fish flavor. I believe I will have this jar for quite a while, provided it doesn't go bad even in the refrigerator. If they do loose taste, then I know that next time I need to buy less at one time. All will depend on how fast I can eat smoked "fishy" flavored dishes before I grow tired of the taste! I would recommend this brand, but be sure you can eat up 3.52 ounces (remember this is a lot of smoked smelly fish jammed into a 1.5L container) or feed some to your cat/s who will probably love you for it!

Cats love them! While this brand charges much more than others for same size, the flakes come whole and haven’t reduced to dust which makes the blue worth it by not having to throw away half the bag!

My cats are crazy about these Bonito flakes! The flakes are large so they don't make too much of a mess. The smell is very pleasant, like smoked fish. Keep the bag well hidden and seriously consider full body armor when feeding this if your cats are as crazy about these Bonito flakes as mine are!

This was advertised for cats. Not true, it’s not for pets but for humans. Maybe human grade but salt content is too high for our pets. I will be returning this because it’s false advertising.
