It is a\great for family and learning traditional culture. It has all the traditional drawings as well.

The first copy I received of this book was damaged due to poor packaging. Amazon has excellent customer service and quickly sent me another one ASAP. The second one was perfect. The book itself is nice. The book appears to be printed when you order it. The paper quality isn’t the best, but it’s ok. The illustrations’ colors are a bit muted, but overall for what you pay, it’s not bad at all.

My brother lived in Russia and this was a great gift. These fairy tales are very common in Russia and Pushkin is a very famous Russian poet so it was a good gift and the illustrations were so pretty I wanted another copy for myself.

It is a great book but it is written only in Russian, so for my husband, who is Russian, loves to read the stories to our baby.

I have difficulty with the way the letters are printed. I ask myself, as I struggle with the text, is this a be, a ve or a ka? I think that this is not how Russian was printed in the 19th or the 20th centuries.

Libro arrivato in condizioni ottime, stampato in una elegantissima font presenta delle illustrazioni che meritano di essere appese al muro. Unico consiglio che non intacca la valutazione: sto imparando la lingua russa, cercavo un libro che mi aiutasse ad ampliare il mio dizionario, ho creduto che questo libro di favole potesse aiutarmi ma... Risulta più difficile di quanto credessi! L'ho acquistato immaginando che fosse adatto alla lettura da parte dei bambini, tuttavia risulta ancora molto complesso, e lo sto leggendo con google lens che mi aiuta nella traduzione. Se, come me, siete alle prime armi con la lingua russa, mettete questo bellissimo articolo nella wishlist, e tornate tra qualche mese almeno!

I like the pictures in this book by the stage designer and painter Bilibin, who was as controversial in Tsarist Russia as Pushkin himself. He painted the props for these operas (staging Pushkin’s fairytales) for their opening nights. Worth mentioning that the Golden Cockerel (opera by Rimsky Korsakov) was actually censored and subsequently banned by the Tsar. I am not sure how useful these books are for teaching children today, but I learnt from Pushkin’s fairytales as a child with great interest. I think it really depends on teacher and student, and I would not ever underestimate the imagination and ability to learn by children, regardless how young. This book is being used by a young mother and writer, who is an opera lover and is learning Russian from her grandmother in a one language method. The grandmother is an accomplished teacher, radio and TV news reader, but does not speak any English. In summary this book is a great choice for anyone who loves Pushkin, visual art, opera and has an interest in history of Russian literature and music. Tasteful reprint, well edited, and shipped to Australia (imagine down under! 🌏) in less than two weeks at an affordable price. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.
