This doesn't compare to an electric dehumidifier but it pulls water from the air over time. I think it works best KEEPING an area dry rather than drying out an area. My mother used these in closets and in rooms that had the vents closed off. When I opened several of these to use in my basement I was a bit overpowered by the scent, but after a day or so I noticed no scent at all. We now have a new dehumidifier, but I would buy these again if necessary to help any damp area. I like the sealed bag version too, and hang them from the basement ceiling when pets or kids can't get to them or tip over.

We have a room in our basement that we fixed up a couple of years ago. The dampness was beginning to make the room smell musty and we don’t want to buy a dehumidifier yet. As soon as these arrived I opened 2 buckets and put them in opposite ends of the room. Within a day my husband could tell a difference. This is a very good value for us - especially during the stay at home order.

These are great! Cheaper on Amazon. I have bought these in different scents . work very well. Suck up moisture and humidity. Keeps everything fresh. Also I renovated an old home and these helped with the stale smell as well. The big plus for me is they are REFILLABLE. These are the way to go. 100%

I have issues with moisture building up around my place and this ensures I don't have mold or other issues accumilate! Also if you have an old AC system i would reccomend putting this in there as it tends to build moisture fast during the summer time.

I was a little hesitant at first...but I can truly tell the difference!!! My bedroom is in my basement and before I put the damp rid containers in my room you can definitely smell the moisture in the air...now the smell is gone!!! I can breathe so much better!!!
