500 Tangled Artworks: A Showcase of Inspired Illustrated Designs

I just got this book today and am so happy I ordered it. I love to do Zentangles and also Zias. I love it because it is very relaxing and needs so few supplies. I can even work on it when I travel. I like to create my own designs but sometimes I am just stumped on what pattern to use or how to use it effectively. I like to have some books to just use as a reference. This one is GREAT! It has so many examples of lovely pieces of art. I can just look through it and imagine how I might use the pattern in my Zentangles. I really like the examples in this book that show the use of color. I have been doing this for about a year. If you would like to try doing this , you can get all your supplies right here on Amazon. All you need are some Micron Pens ( and get a selection of sizes), some paper ( am inexpensive sketchbook with smooth paper) and if you want to really get fancy - some Pismacolor Pencils .You can also order some Paper Mate felt tip pens for filling in large spaces. It is quite addictive and very relaxing to do this. No special skill required. You too can have amazing results. Another book I would recommend is The Beauty of Zentangle by McNeill. This is a beautiful book of tangles from around the world. I look at it for inspiration and pattern ideas whilst tangling tiles and it has been very useful. Aside from that, it is just a fun book to look at. The artwork featured in it is beautiful and complex and some of the creations are truly stunning. This is a great book for any tangle artist to add to their collection.

Really liked this book and it had a lot of good ideas. The featured artworks were really inspiring. I've done drawings like this for years and this gave me a whole new viewpoint on what could be accomplished with just a pencil. Interesting to see that doodling now has a new name!

Beckah incorporated a great variety of tangles from which to choose! There are color & black and white Zentangles, Zendalas, tangling on various objects, and tangles of fish and animals. Beckah highlights quite a number of artists' works so there is an array of styles and patterns to view. A great resource!

This book is very inspirational! I recently started zentangling and I am also a visual learner and this book really helps me expand ideas for designs and patterns, as it is filled with tons of art on every page! Absolutely love it!

The book is not meant for people new to Zentangle as it does not show how to create each tangle. In the introductory chapter, the book briefly touches upon what Zentangle is and also tells readers how to start tangling. It is in no way a how-to tangle book but more of a showcase of what other artists have done with Zentangle. The book itself is of a good print, and I like the feel of the paper used for the book. However, the pictures within the book leave much more to be wanted. For example, some tiles were badly lit and the white of the paper looked grey in the photos (page 34,, for example). Or even worse, some seem to have been taken in a dark room and lit by the light of a table lamp resulting in greenish and pinkish hues (page 43, for example). Some might complain that the pictures within the book are too small, and I have to agree that details do get lost due to the fact that some pictures were printed too small.Chapter One shows actual Zentangle tiles.Chapter Two shows Zentangles done on larger paper.Chapter Three shows Zentangle-Inspired Artworks (ZIAs). You'll start to see colours in the art works from hereon.Chapter Four shows mixed-media ZIAs. Much more colours involved in the art works contained in this chapter.Chapter Five shows fiber and textile ZIAs.Chapter Six shows ZIAs in sculptures.Finally, the book ends with a directory of all the artists showcased within the book, and also where within the book they're featured. It's nice that every picture is numbered and that they have the artist's name under each picture for easy reference.All in all, 500 Tangled Artworks delivers what it says it would- it shows you 500 artworks with zentangles, and it does make for a nice coffeetable book, but this is definitely not a how-to book and there are much better zentangle books in the market.Watch my flip-through video of the book via this link:http://youtu.be/07tTRXeSb34

nice quality, sturdy book with loads of beautiful tangled art. a great book for ideas, or to showcase on your coffee table. art from artists all around the world. love my copy!

As I said, this is essentally not a "how to guide" (does include 4 tangles with step-out [the process of drawing them for the uninitiated!] and the huge clue that tangles are essentially 5 strokes [yep, that simple that even I can do it!]) but a it is a beautifully presented collection of tangle artwork.The book is split into a number of sections that inspire you and trigger your imagination as to the limitless ways that tangles can be used.Enjoy the therapy that tangling brings you!
