Excellent product - so long as you don't get storms...
These things are excellent - work well, reliable and simple to use. I have four netgear routers of different types in my home network which covers two large buildings. Very rarely, they need a reset when the network slows down - once or twice a year, so more reliable than other brands I've used. However, I live in an area subject to storms, and the house sometimes gets struck by lightning. Every single time it happens, despite the mains distribution board tripping, and/or overload/surge switches on extension sockets these are connected to tripping , the power supplies get fried. Only on these devices, and every time. The power supply can't be repaired, and costs about the same to replace as buying a complete new switch with power supply, so as here, I replace the entire thing. This is only necessary because the replacement power supplies are not sufficiently robust and are overpriced as a spare part - frankly I think Netgear should replace them free of charge. Anyway, for that reason, 4 stars not 5. If you don't get affected by storms, you'll be very happy with this product.

Robust And Effective
This is a powered hub to split an incoming CAT/Network Cable feed from your router to then serve multiple devices with more CAT/Network cables. It is a strong robust material and serves a host of devices in my little office. I had been frustrated by wireless speeds being only adequate. Wireless is not always the best option and cable is much faster. With everything cabled via the little hub up the speeds are hugely improved.

I've no issues with this
you either need a managed or an unmanaged version, unmanaged switch allows you to just clone your internet so you can have upto 50 computers hooked up if you wanted by buying more of these, I'd recommend the larger one 8 ports or more I bought the smaller one and ended up buying 2 8 ports cause I needed the leeway to hook up over 5 video game consoles 1 pc and room for guests to connect RJ45 ethernet internet to their laptop as example. This just extends your internet from router to the unmanaged switch version and you won't need to do anything other than plug and play, if you get a managed switch though your going to need to learn advanced internet protocols to configure it typically those are for professionals so if your like me and you just wanna hook it up and have it automatically do it for you then get the unmanaged switch box. This saved me from unplugging RJ45 from my xbox360 to my ps4 and then there's the ps2, ps3, xbox one, and nintendo switch and wii -U, Laptop well err the list goes on lolI personally plug 2 ports off the router into no1 of each of the 8 port version that gives me 14 ports spare for my needs and extra, I believe as long as its in any socket in the unmanaged switch it will work though universally hence plug and play.No regrets buying them, wasn't too expensive so a good buy. I actually ended up buying 3 1x 4 ports and 2x 8 ports. the 4 ports was an accident though, its just not enough ports go with the higher port count if your getting one you never know when you might need the extras.
