SENNELIER D'artigny Oil Pastel Sprayfix 400Ml

Works really well on my oil pastel drawings. It makes the surface more durable but this is not like armor. It'll keep the surface from smearing if something ribs against it but it is soft enough to rework or scrape the oil pastel underneath if you need to. If you put it on heavy I noticed some of the dark blue pigments in my Myungyo Gallery oil pastels "float" and separate out from others. The key to preventing that is very light coats. The fumes are such that I strongly prefer to spray a drawing with this outdoors. But it is not an instant asthmatic trigger for me, unlike some other spray fixes. It does not wrinkle the paper, unlike alcohol-and-casein based fixes. This along with the easier to deal with fumes makes it my favorite oil pastel fixative.

Does not discolor or yellow oil pastels. Dries to the touch. Feels a little waxy when dry but painting won’t smudge or fade. Spray 2 or 3x’s allowing each layer to dry before spraying again. I then place a layer of glacine over the piece and place a book on top to soak up any extra oil. Afterwards, the piece will be dry to the touch and can be stored as you wish. I am pleasantly surprised with this product and will definitely buy again.

This seem to lay down and work well it is subtle and beautiful. It is expensive but I think it is worth it. I drew with oil pastels on thank you cards and mailed them off and I understand they arrived unscathed and intact. Doesn’t seem to skew color or value. Can’t speak to archival quality at this point. Really like though.

I used this to seal an oil pastel I've been working on. Worked perfectly. Does need to be used outside due to how strong that smell is. I would recommend and will be buying this again in the future.

I recently started working with oil pastels and needed something to stop the smudging. This spray works very well to stop smudging and the transfer of oil pastels. I would recommend spraying this outside it in a spray booth because it has a very strong smell. It’s very easy to use just spray is sweeping motions across surface. I noticed it’s necessary to do 2-3 coats to fully lock in the color. The texture of the oil pastel changed a little bit but the overall color and appearance stays the same.

I've never used this before, and I painted a 22" round painting. I was nervous about applying it at first, but it went on perfectly and leaves a satin finish. I put 3 light coats on, and I can touch the oil pastel without it smearing or getting on my hands.

this is amazing for preserving oil pastels since they never dry, but be careful to use multiple thin layers and distance the can from the paper otherwise it will create water droplets that ruin your art

Exactement ce que je cherchais, fixe parfaitement mes pastels à l'huile, avec deux couches. Attention à bien doser, n'en mettez pas trop !

Magico, perfetto, asciuga subito e vale tutti quei soldi. Mantiene il colore del pastello ad olio, vellutato e morbido e lo fissa in modo permanente, probabilmente acquisterò di nuovo 🌺💖💕💘

Ich habe viele Fixative ausprobiert, für Ölpastellkreiden funktioniert nur dieses hier. Das fixierte Bild bekommt einen leichten Glanz, der nicht stört und etwas an Ölgemälde erinnert. Farben werden minimal dunkler und kontrastreicher, aber nicht stark, für mich persönlich gerade so wahrnehmbar. Fixierte Bilder sind geschützt gegen Zerkatzen, Verschmieren, Staub und Abfärben. Man kann sie anfassen ohne Fingerabdrücke zu hinterlassen und ohne Farbe an den Fingern zu haben. Bei mehreren Schichten bleiben auch keine Farbreste mehr an den Fingern, wenn man über das Bild reibt. Weitere Schichten dunkeln die Farben nicht mehr nach, nur die erste. Leider ohne UV Schutz. Das UV Schutz Spray der gleichen Marke kann man separat darüber sprühen, nachdem man es gut trocknen gelassen hat.
