My correct sized rod did not thread in all the way using the proper tool, there's about 1/4" thread showing. Is this okay?

Hi AdventureGirl, Its ok to have some thread left as our nuts thread is longer than the original one. Making sure you use teflon and dont over-torque it, else you will have a hard time removing It next time.

Will this fit my 6 gal RV water heater model g6a-8e?

This does not fit G6A-8E atwood heater. It requires a 1/2 thread instead of the 3/4 thread.
