The first set I got from Amazon had noticeable rust stains on it and damage. Bit I sent it back and got another set which was in great condition So I'm happy. This is actually a great set of cast iron cookware and it will last for ever if you just know how to properly take care of it. I had this same set before but it unfortunately ended up with rust stains due to being left outside by someone when it shouldn't have been. It's worth every penny of $100 considering it will last forever.

These cast iron pots and skillets are great! They do the cooking to near perfection. My advice is to take care of them as described being specific with the instructions provided. I kept these pans out and available with each one nesting with the provided paper that was with the product so they all fit together well. These are not suitable for acidic dishes nor leaving the lid on for too long after cooling thus creating condensation thereby potentially rusting the underside of the lid or even the exposed pot. It doesn’t matter while cooking or heating just afterwards. They are heavy as expected, safe using your favorite potholder, as well as are very versatile for so many dishes. Yesterday I braised, marinated and cooked short ribs, potatoes and carrots in another pan and cornbread in another size to create my own feast. Be creative and know you’ll get some iron added to your diet.

I carefully reviewed both the positive and negative reviews on Amazon before purchasing this set. I could not be happier with the product I received. I went ahead and seasoned them a few times after receiving, although I'm not sure that was necessary. They maintain heat well, and cook evenly. I've used on both the stove top and in the oven. The dutch oven cooked my sourdough bread to perfection.

I have to say that this purchase turned out to be a really good one. I'd wanted a cast iron set for camping for years, but had always been put off by the price and care required to maintain cast iron. I eventually got over the latter, and with the price of this kit, who can say no? I've used this set for about a year now...we do a lot of camping and cooking every year, whether it's setting up a tent in the national forests or using forest service cabins all winter long in the relatively harsh Montana winters. This kit (or parts of it) have gone with on all those trips and has been good to us and our food every step of the way. We've done cobblers, chili, traditional American breakfasts, enchiladas...dozens and dozens of ethnic and traditional foods and enjoyed using this cast iron kit every time. Whether setting it up in on a campfire, using a cook stove or even wood fired cooking stoves, it's been a reliable companion to have along the way. About the only complaint so far is that they're heavy...duh...it's cast iron! I expect these to last for years and years to come, maybe even a lifetime...who knows? Overall, this kit is a much better value overall than the piece meal approach...but you do need to consider whether the contained items will work well for your purposes. We did accessorize our units with some of the other Lodge products. This certainly isn't a necessity, but some are nice to have. In particular, the silicone handles and lid lifter have been essential additional tools we added to the kit. Other than those, this kit's been pretty much complete and hasn't required any further augmentation. We did re-season the units after it was received and just again recently for the new season. This is definitely a benefit overall and we would recommend learning about the procedure as it's a necessary component to maintaining cast iron for the long term. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive cast iron kit, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kit in particular.

I have been looking to add to my cast iron collection for a while & finally did when I saw this set on sale. I wanted to wait a while to write a review until I used them enough to give a fair review. I have more good to say than bad, but there has been a downside. Let me start by saying all the cast iron I already had was handing down from my great grandmother, grandmother, mother & rescued from garage sales & needed TLC. So my expectations about newer cast iron was a bit lower than the older cast iron. I read reviews on Lodge (mostly positive) & also did some research. When I saw this set on sale I bought it. It arrived nicely packaged, no chips ( I saw a couple of reviews saying there were chips) & already seasoned. I washed the pieces & seasoned them. I don't really see any difference in the cooking which is good. The quality & sizes are good. I'm a huge fan of the griddle. However, I do have an ongoing issue with the lid to the Dutch Oven. First, the underside spikes are a bit sharp & it's a challenge to clean in between them. The 1st time I used the Dutch oven it was for a roast that I cooked for about 6 hours. I didn't notice until the roast was done the underside of the lid was completely rusty. Really disappointing & rusty enough that I wasn't comfortable feeding the roast. I cleaned it really well and seasoned it but it happened when I experimented with water the second time as well. It was not nearly as bad as the first use but still not good. I have my grandmothers Dutch Oven so I just use that when I'm doing a long cook needing a lid. I use the Lodge Dutch Oven without the lid for baking. Overall, I have had no other rusting issues with any of the other pieces & would most likely purchase Lodge cast iron in the future.

I bought this set a few weeks ago and took it camping and it was my first experience cooking in cast iron over a fire/ hot coals by myself. This set is lovely! I do see some dings and imperfections, however, it's cast iron and it's for making amazing food, not show-casing on display! I'm happy with them,"dings and all". I washed them with hot soapy water when they arrived and dried, then oiled them and cooked them in the oven for 1 hour on 350°and then let them cool completely in the oven before packing them in a box to go! Per suggestions, I cooked bacon for the first time use over the fire and they now pretty much wipe out clean with an oiled paper towl after each use. I scrubbed them with a small amount of hot water and seasoned them again (oil, baked and cool process) when we got home and they look beautiful and new, even after being burried in coals and fire and roughed up. I highly recommend this set!

Excelente, al principio se me pegaba la comida un poco, pero despues de un mes de uso ya no se pega nada, funcionan de maravilla. Si piensas comprarlo ten en cuenta que tienes que hacer el curado inicial (yo lo hice en una parrila electrica, asi que puede hacerlo donde sea), despues usarlo tienes que secarlo y ponerle una capa fina de aceite, si cocinas con aceite de canola en los primeros dias de tu sarten mucho mejor, se nota la diferencia en como cura la sarten, último punto, son muy pesados, asi que si es para regalar piensa si la otra persona tiene la fuerza para usarlos

I bought this set a couple of weeks ago and I am throwing it in the garbage can. The whole thing is rusty and the black paint is coming off . The food I was trying to cook was stained from the paint. I’m afraid for my health.
