I carefully reviewed both the positive and negative reviews on Amazon before purchasing this set. I could not be happier with the product I received. I went ahead and seasoned them a few times after receiving, although I'm not sure that was necessary. They maintain heat well, and cook evenly. I've used on both the stove top and in the oven. The dutch oven cooked my sourdough bread to perfection.

I have to say that this purchase turned out to be a really good one. I'd wanted a cast iron set for camping for years, but had always been put off by the price and care required to maintain cast iron. I eventually got over the latter, and with the price of this kit, who can say no? I've used this set for about a year now...we do a lot of camping and cooking every year, whether it's setting up a tent in the national forests or using forest service cabins all winter long in the relatively harsh Montana winters. This kit (or parts of it) have gone with on all those trips and has been good to us and our food every step of the way. We've done cobblers, chili, traditional American breakfasts, enchiladas...dozens and dozens of ethnic and traditional foods and enjoyed using this cast iron kit every time. Whether setting it up in on a campfire, using a cook stove or even wood fired cooking stoves, it's been a reliable companion to have along the way. About the only complaint so far is that they're heavy...duh...it's cast iron! I expect these to last for years and years to come, maybe even a lifetime...who knows? Overall, this kit is a much better value overall than the piece meal approach...but you do need to consider whether the contained items will work well for your purposes. We did accessorize our units with some of the other Lodge products. This certainly isn't a necessity, but some are nice to have. In particular, the silicone handles and lid lifter have been essential additional tools we added to the kit. Other than those, this kit's been pretty much complete and hasn't required any further augmentation. We did re-season the units after it was received and just again recently for the new season. This is definitely a benefit overall and we would recommend learning about the procedure as it's a necessary component to maintaining cast iron for the long term. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive cast iron kit, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kit in particular.

Got this for christmas and it is our ritual in the house, the quality is so good and stays in perfect condition. It’s pretty heavy, and hasn’t rusted since we got it in december. It does it get very hot so make sure to use proper wear when handling. The size of these are great for perfectly in oven when done or even hanged in the wall. The cook time is a lot faster because the pans get pretty warm! Really good gift for someone to even yourself!

Really good purchase. Like the quality and heat retention. Seasoned it a bit and it is doing reasonably well on being non-stick as well. Got this for £66 - so a very good buy. The delivery was quick - adding to an already excellent experience.
