Great lights at a great price
These lights rock! Very bright output makes a huge difference at night, without the need for high cost other brand lights. Use them around town when I am alone on the road, and they work just great. Do not see a need to go with higher wattage or more costly options. When you install, take your time. The relay it comes with has different numbering on it than normal but has a chart on the side to give you the standard relay post numbers. No idea why it is like that but no big deal. Also recommend you use some heavier guage wires for the positive and negative runs to the battery and fuse box. Also buy a in line fuse for the positive lead to the battery. The kit comes with an inline fuse for the switch to the fuse box only. Not hard to install other than the switch does not tell you what side is up so you can get the posts backward (I did) and have no power going to the relay. Did some testing and found I had the switch upside down and the positive and negative backwards on the back of it. Flipped the wires around and viola, day light at night time. Wish I put these on my Jeep sooner, they help out the weak factory headlights a ton!

HELLA 500 FF Driving Lights - Very Nice
Ok, the 500FF driving lights are a good design in how it projects the light in front of the vehicle. I have been driving with Hellas in both my cars and 4x4s since 1985. They make damn good driving lights both on and off-road. I say that the 500s in stock form do a nice job in the city. However, if you do any off-roading and these are the only auxilary lights you have then I would recommend upgrading the bulbs to a 100W or 130W. Of course the modification will make them unusable in city driving. Personally I have adopted these as fog lights with crystal ion fog bulbs from PIAA. The PIAA bulbs and Hella 500s are a perfect match and work great in snow and dense fog. I don't like the conventional fog lights because the light pattern spreads too much light above the hood which is not needed. I have a FJ Cruiser with a grill guard where these puppies are mounted on the lower crossmember close to the ground. This is the best place for them. However, the pair of 500s are not enough to illuminate the back roads of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I drive at night. If you want to get excellent illumination I HIGHLY recommend the Hella Rallye 4000s with the Hella 130W optional bulbs. I have these mounted above the 500s on the top crossmember of the brush guard (same height as the factory headlights) . When you turn the 4000s on at night I will guarantee you that you will see EVERYTHING in front of the vehicle to 1/2 mile!

Nice Old School Lights
These are old school lights that I installed on my Land Rover Defender. They are a perfect replacement for the old lights that rusted away. The included wiring harness made the install seamless. The night is now lit up!

Great lights for the price, and plenty of resources online for installation guidance.
These come as a complete kit, which includes the relay, wires and a basic rocker switch. The installation instructions are not real easy to follow. Fortunately, these lights are popular amongst truck owners, so there is a plethora of good DIY installation advice and tips in the Toyota Tacoma and other 4X4 forums online. Several people have stated that the gauge of the included wiring is too high, and have substituted a lower gauge for their installations. I used everything as it was packaged and it's working fine. I was originally going to wire them to the high beams, but did not want to mess with the factory wiring on my relatively-new Focus ST that has a good warranty. I used the included switch and mounted it in the cabin, providing power to it from a fused connector off the battery's positive terminal. The quality of the lights appears to be good. I yellowed my lenses using Duplicolor Metalcast Anodized Yellow and Wurth wheel-quality clear coat. The results were great, as they now match my Hoen 2,500K yellow fog lamp bulbs. The light output is tremendous, and is a pencil-type beam going far beyond the ST's xenon headlamp pattern.

Excellent lighting, fair quality construction, great value for money.
I installed these lights on a Saab 900SE next to a set of KC Pencil Beam driving lights. While they are not the quality of the KC lights, they are nevertheless reasonable quality and VERY good value for the money. Install was typical - no easier or harder than installing any other brand. Light output with 55 watt bulbs is EXCELLENT with a TIGHT, LONG RANGE BEAM. Not quite as focused as the KCs - but there isn't much in it -- and the light output seems as bright as the KCs with 100 watt bulbs. Because the housing is plastic I have not run the Hella's with 100 watt or 130 watt bulbs, I may give it a try during the winter. For me the wiring harness was a little light -- especially since I commonly use 100 watts bulbs, but so long as you use a relay to switch the lights and keep the runs short it will be more than adequate - but I'm an "overkill" type when it comes to wiring so I replaced the harnesses with #12 Tefzel (aircraft) wire for each light and everything is relay switched with very short cable runs. I would certainly buy them again - and will probably replace the KCs with the Hellas next time a rock takes them out. The Hella kit with two lights cost less than one replacement lens for the KC Summary - Excellent lighting, fair quality construction, great value for money.

Only one problem
These lights are great. But do yourself a favor and buy a “light bar wiring harness” the wiring kit they send is a joke it wants you to splice into the vehicles high beams and wire lengths are way to short. You don’t have to buy another wire harness but it saves a lot more time and head ache and in my application i couldn’t tie into the high beams because my high beams didn’t work witch is the reason I was adding the lights in the first place. Aside from the junk wiring hardware the lights are nice and bright and look great

HELLA of a Light
Wiring harness doesn't follow US electronics wiring code. I rewired wires so ground was black and +12Vdc was red. Also bought a different switch to replace the low quality switch profided in kit. I didn't particularily like the quallity of the stranded wire making up the harness. I laid out the lamps and wiring before install to make sure I understood the profided schematic which wasn't clearly drawn. Tested lights with harness, relay and a 12vdc battery to make sure everything switched on and worked like it should. I made sure the wires were at the proper length for hookup to where I placed my lights and on/off switch. I soldered all wire splices and used heat-shrink to cover them. I made note of the wire colors connected to the switch. If the switch wiring is wrong the relay doesn't function correctly and the lights won't work. I disconnected everything and headed for the truck! Installed wiring with no difficulties. Used tie wraps and black flexable wire covering for protected stable install. Made sure, I had a good ground connection to the Tacoma's frame and good 12v power connection directly to the battery. ( You can wire the lamps to come on with the headlights. So, one of the power connections would change, as noted in the instructions. I choose to control the lamps seperately. Make sure you decide what configuration you'll use, before the install...) After all was finished, I turned them on and aligned them. I took a ride in the evening to make sure that the lights were stable and didn't have any intermittant shaking or blinking problems, which they didn't. I had installed the lamps onto my heavy duty front bumper guard and look really great. The lamps are well made and good quality. The only problem was the wiring harness appeared fragile and required some inspection and rework. The directions weren't well written and the provided schematic needed some study to figure out the color code. If your patient enough to work out the minor kinks, this lamp kit is worth the effort for the price. NOTE: only three(3) stars because of the wire harness...

A classic brand with cool bright factor!
Awesome product for the price. The Italian vintage ones goes for ton of cash on Ebay. These are made in India and they are mass produced that's why I paid $65. Not bad!! The wires are flimsy but you add electrical tape with zip ties and it is a pretty solid setup. They do require pro installation you have to remove the panel make a hole and install the switch and wire it within the harness. Once installed they are awesome and the have a cool factor. I travel a lot from NY to Florida and sometimes the roads a pitch black if the moon is not out etc. So yes I am Happy !!! With the Hella's

EXCELENTE

Amazing product! Still going strong 4 years later!
Fitted these to the front of my XC70 3-4 years ago. They are incredible! Light dark country roads up very well. I like the fact they come with the covers so you can protect the glass during the lighter months! Great wiring kit included but decided to make my own so I could splice into the full beam wiring.
