194419-4 118" Splinter Guard Replacement Strip, Black

It's a replacement splinter guard. I bought the longer roll and just cut it to fit my shorter Makita tracksaw guide. That way I can get 2 replacements worth from a single roll. It's important to take the time to clean all of the previous strips adhesive off of the guide before you install this one. I accomplish this by taking a heat gun and warming the edge up until just warm to the touch. Take 90+% alcohol and soak the edge with the residual adhesive, after about 15 seconds I carefully scrape with a razor blade, cleaning the gunk that comes off as I go. Repeat until its just the raw metal. Dry the area you just cleaned and allow it to sit for about 2 minutes so all the alcohol evaporates. Then carefully adhere the new strip in the correct orientation(yes there is a correct orientation), with the sticky portion to the inside of the guide going slowly to ensure you keep it right up against the shoulder. Once done I take a J-Roller and roll the strip to ensure it's been properly seated to the guide. Doing all that, the replacement looks straight out of the factory and I don't have any issues with the adhesive not bonding to the track guide.

Easy to install. Seems to be an exact match to what came on the track originally. Adhesive stuck well and has been holding up for months of use since installation.

Used to replace the strip on my festool rail. Fit works perfectly. Most strips I use don’t stay on well in high summer temps. Hope these survive our heat. I read complaints about the solvent smell but it dissipates after unfurling and installation. Great value so far

Works well on my Festool tracks. Cheaper than the Festool and similar function. Sticks well and no problems so far.

Just replaced my original Makita splinter guard on my track using this. The new one is just a good of quality as the original and easy to install. Be aware, when you take your old splinter guard off it is likely to leave the yellow adhesive behind. Remove that adhesive before applying this new guard. It helps to have a heat gun, goo gone, or acetone to do that, along with a plastic scraper so that you don’t mar the track. This guard should work with any of the Festool/Makita style tracks. I’ve heard folks prefer this guard over the Festool replacement guard because this one is black and that one is white. The black color is easier to see against most woods, apparently.

I've got a cheap wen track saw. It works for my needs but the splinter guard didn't stick very well and I've had to re-adhere it several times. Gave up and replaced with these...good width and thickness on the Wen tracks and the adhesive flat sticks. I did have to clean the tracks after removing the old splinter guard, using acetone, as I had some mixture of old adhesive and contact cement I'd aggie engineered earlier repairs, but it was a clean replacement after that.

So in my excitement to play with the makita track saw.. I screwed up and because I didnt double check if I zerod the bevel BACK to 90 - made a weird "first" cut. DOUBLE mistake of not setting the track gripping - it shuddered mid cut so my original plastic guide is all jagged and NOT straight... Which sorta is a problem if your lining things up to do that perfect straight cut.... Soooooo happy this exists! I was able to remove the old damaged guide wipped it down with acetone and reaffixed this replacement. Finally triple checked everything and replunged for a smoooth edge and voila perfect track for me to make long rip cuts with!
