BEST CASIO I HAVE EVER OWNED!
If you're like me and you like the look of a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch combined with digital accuracy and a FOREVER battery, then this watch is a MUST, especially at 39 percent off list!!! I owned a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch for about 8 years when the battery ran out for the third time. In this post-lockdown era of skilled labor shortages, your only option for getting a new battery installed is to send it back to the Tag USA headquarters in NJ. So I did that and to my surprise after waiting over a month, they said it would cost over $300 to replace the battery and perform maintenance on all of the seals. No thanks - this Casio is a much better value, with the perpetual solar battery (watch came fully charged), sharp Formula 1 looks, and the digital accuracy. I was amazed when I first set the time on the watch: you set the correct time zone and then the time automatically is set by satellite. The really amazing part is that the minute and hour hands then automatically synced themselves to the correct time - I have never seen that before. In fact, you can't even set the hands manually. What an incredibly good-looking watch and accurate for the price. It's also really lightweight and thinner so not clunky, and with my thinner wrists, the diameter is just right! Lastly, the luminescence of the dials is adequate -- I can see the time in pitch black darkness but it's not strong. And as others have mentioned, the LED screen is a tad small and hard to read when the hands are in the vicinity. The only real weakness: the mineral glass already shows an abrasion line after just under a month. Sapphire mineral glass it is not, but then for the price, you can't get a better deal overall than this!

Looks good and works great
Function and looks were the highest priorities for me, not price (though saving money is not a bad feeling). I was willing to pay more, but I could not find anything that I thought looked OK until I got over $200 for a Citizens watch. Since I wear the same watch all the time, it had to be appropriate for both work and leisure. And I wanted a solar watch, so I would not have to worry about the waterproof seal when I replaced a battery. The solar charging for this watch works well. It is easy to make a check list of requirements and check them off for various watches (solar, waterproof, analog, good looking, countdown timer, alarm clock, etc). Using this method, this watch scores high. The only feature this watch seems to be missing is being atomic (being able to automatically set the time itself). However, most of the atomic watches I looked at were slightly too big and bulky for my taste. Besides, this watch is so accurate, once you set the time correctly you won't need to readjust it very often at all. However, the method of making a check list of requirements and checking them off is not the be all, end all of choosing. Interesting enough, just about every watch has its intricacies and quirks, this watch is no exception. Perhaps the biggest problem with this watch is reading it in the dark. The analog hands glow (somewhat) in the dark and and there is a button for lighting up the digital readout (which even lit up, is hard to read for my old eyes). Another defect is that the alarm (for the alarm clock and the countdown timer) isn't very loud. The only other problem I can think of is about once an hour the minute hand partially blocks the digital readout. In short, buying a watch involves compromise. One should be aware of what compromise you are making before buying. Different things are important to different people. I am quite happy with this watch, compromises and all.

Excellent watch especially for this price point
First off, I have waif sized wrists for a guy. In this era of overly large watches, a 40mm or under case is ideal for me. My criteria was simple: 1) I wanted a knock around watch for work. 2) I wanted a light feeling watch that didn't dwarf my wrist. 3) I wanted a watch from a respected company. 4)Finally , I wanted an easy to read watch. Pros: The Casio arrives partially charged. A click of a button automatically sets the watch. There are a myriad of options for the digital display. I personally like the day of the week. Charging it merely requires it to face out a window for a few hours. It was raining when I received the watch, so I let it charge almost 24 hours. Probably overkill but there is a handy charge prompt on the digital readout. It fits perfectly and feels light on the wrist. Finally, it is solar powered. No need for fumbling about for a replacement battery in 2-3 years. Cons: The strap fits well but I can tell that it will need to be replaced. Again for the price point of this watch, I can live with that. I'm thinking a NATO style in Orange would compliment this well. Lum is lacking. But seriously at this price point I am splitting hairs. Overall: It is a well designed watch at an incredible price point. Having it being solar powered is icing on the cake. Having if be a Casio is even better than an unheard of knockoff brand. Follow Up Review: This is my go to daily watch. It takes a beating as work can be somewhat physical and I. All weather. It has been in a pool, in heat, snow etc. it just works accurately. Shockingly the band has become more comfortable as you wear it over time. The negatives of the watch still remain and more a fault of my older eyes. The lume and backlight are terrible. But to be honest , this is an inexpensive watch. I would have liked a lighter dial color to contract the hands. But it hasn’t missed a beat

Easy to read, accurate, but with some downsides
Overall this is a decent watch at this price point. Solar charging/recharging is good so far. Readability of the analog dial is excellent, but the digital display is a bit small. The features of this watch are quite good - you can even adjust the time the light stays on, from 1-3 seconds. I haven't had it long yet, but I would expect it to be fairly durable. The digital display is pretty small. As a consequence, the DAY can be displayed, but not with the DATE. Instead Casio has inexplicably included SECONDS. When switching mode on the display to DATE, the DAY is similarly not displayed (again you get seconds). This is annoying and it seems this could have been easily remedied in design. Although this is an inexpensive watch, the hands and select makers have a basic Lume applied, which actually works pretty well. This is a nice add-on for a watch at this price point. My watch arrived in excellent/pristine condition with all tags, manuals, and boxes. It appears to be a genuine Casio, not a knockoff. Overall here are the pros and cons: PROS - Inexpensive - Solar powered - Nice analog time keeping with small digital supplement for day/date, stopwatch, etc. - Decent adjustable light - Decent hand and marker Lume. - Overall good build quality and features at this price point. CONS - Small date display that is a bit hard to read. - DAY and DATE cannot be simultaneously displayed in the digital screen. A mode change is necessary to get both. Overall a really good product for the price. I'd prefer to give it 4.5 stars, but I've rounded up to 5 considering how inexpensive it is.

There's bad cheap and good cheap -- this is good cheap: water resistant to 330 feet!
Was looking for a beach beater, found it in this watch, and it exceeded my expectations. What struck me is that it's solar powered and water resistant to 330 feet -- so it's safe for the shower, pool, and ocean swimming (not diving). So glad I didn't have to spring for a full out diver's watch, which would be overkill for its intended use. Has all the digital (literal) bells and whistles - stopwatch, assorted alarms, DST on/off (especially nice) one would imagine from a Casio watch. Love ani-digi watches, best of both worlds. I'm a mechanical watch guy (this is the first quartz I've owned in a long time) - can't stand the jerky second hand movement of quartz watches (or wall clocks). Casio simply got rid of that annoyance and replaced the spastic second hand found on quartz movement watches with a five bar digital second meter next to the day/date display. Thank you! And damn if this isn't an attractive timepiece in its own right with a nice thin profile. Nobody is going to confuse it with a Patek Philippe Calatrava, but it's actually quite stylish in its own right - sporty, plasticy, G Shock-y, but somehow manages to be understated too? It's a perfectly fine watch to wear with jeans, even biz casual. This Casio will definitely get more wear than as a beach beater and has earned its place in daily rotation. 330 feet water resistance (an ATM rating very rare for a watch in the el-cheapo price range), solar, ana-digi display, and stylish -- for 30 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick as they say. Oh - and by the way, don't bother with the manual that (par for the course) requires a photography loupe lens to read. Download the manual from the Casio website.

LCD a bit too small/ hard to read
The "Analog" part of this watch is easily readable though it is a bit weird to call it Analog since it is tied directly to the digital part of the watch. You "set" the digital watch and then watch the analog part of the watch automatically match the time you set on the digital watch. That's all fine and dandy but the digital watch face (LCD) is a bit small and harder to read than I would prefer. Not helpful in that issue is that there are periods of time when the minute or hour hand will be sitting right over top of that display obliterating part of it and making it harder to see. Finally, also directly impacting my own personal satisfaction is that part of the display is pretty much set to show the seconds in digital form and that part of the display is where I would much prefer to see the year part of the date, or would prefer to have the display show me DAY-of-week MONTH and DAY (so something like MON 1-13 as an example). There's also the space that is used there to show the charging activity from the solar charging. I don't mind that but think it would have made more sense to add that as a separate display in another lesser used area of the analog watch face. If that was done that would leave more room for the digital display to be more readable for persons that want to clearly see that part. I do like that the watch has multiple alarms though find that isn't really able to handle all of what I would like to do. Unlike a smart watch that would be tied to my phone and pick up a different alarm each day if I needed it, this watch offers a single time for the alarms that are set and doesn't care about day-of-the-week or date at all. So if I need a reminder on Wednesday at 1:30pm, I can't set that up on this watch unless I want the same alarm every other day of the week. Similarly, I need or want an alarm at 9:25am to remind me of a Monday-Friday meeting and I get to have the same alarm on Saturday and Sunday even if I don't need it then. I know, I know, this isn't a smart watch and doesn't have that much flexibility but I still wish for a bit more. I also know if I it was as flexible as I hoped for it would be harder to set the alarms on this watch, especially since it isn't a smart watch and has no interface over to any external source such as a phone or computer. Since I can't use a smart watch during my normal work day (prohibitions in my work place and all that) and can't have the cell phone there anyway having a simpler watch that doesn't offer or use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is a requirement and this seems to me to be among the best of my available choices. For the price point this is a nice watch. Not perfect, but definitely useful and delivering fair value. Younger eyes might not see the issue with the digital display. I didn't separately rate water resistance as I'm not really trying that hard to use this where I might need water resistance. (Yet). Same for Timer Function which I normally don't need to use.

Great For A Budget Watch
As a fan of Casio watches I have been wearing them for decades. My last watch that was almost a copy of this one lasted me around 15 years and I wore it every day. I wear a G-Steel now so I picked this up for my son. PROs: Black and orange looks great. Diameter isn't too small or too big. Good size if you're not robust. Fairly thin for a G-Shock styled watch. Easy to set time and use functions. Buttons are tactile. No stem (weakest point on any watch). Quartz movement for good time keeping. Comfortable band that's easy to get a replacement. Digital readout can be set to date. Resest watch face for added protection. Rechargeable battery with sunlight. Will easily last 10 years. Good price. CONs: Light only lights tiny digital screen. If you're near vision isn't great you won't be able to read the screen. Overall a great watch. There are thousands of cheap watches out there but nobody (even Timex) makes budget watches like Casio. Highly recommended

Excellent and affordable
This watch cost me less than $30 and it's solar powered! It's similar in design to other lower priced Casios but this is a good thing - it isn't too bulky, the orange accents are unique and eye catching in the sense that only one glance is needed to quickly tell the time. The COOLEST thing about this watch is - and I cannot explain it - is when I opened the box it was set to some arbitrary time - I was driving in my car at the time so I didn't have the luxury of reading the manual that came with it at the time BUT - all I did was press the "adjust" button at the top and set the time zone to my own using another button (I think "search") and then forgot about it. I don't know if that is what caused the cool thing I'm about to explain happen but after several minutes I looked at my watch and to my surprise it was actually the correct time! I have no idea how to explain this - it's one thing to set the time on a digital watch - but this is both analog (hands) and digital - and it just "magically" set itself - I love it. The watch looks great, it's very sporty without being too big and clunky like many of the G-Shock watches (I own two) and for the price... you literally will not find a better watch that is solar powered for cheaper - there may be ones that cost less but their quality is garbage. I also have the Casio "Illuminator" watch and it's basically exactly like this one but slightly smaller and not solar powered (and no orange accents, of course) and this watch is the SAME price! I'm in love.

Great watch!
Arrived earlier than expected which is great. The watch is well made and is slim compared to my other Casio G shock watches. Medium size, slim face. Very easy to operate and setup. Watch face very clear and easy to read, even the small digital. Pleased with purchase and price 5* Update forgot to mention for those Casio Solar fans out there, the solar power battery level indicator usually a simple tiny LCD mark is now accessed via pressing the the watch mode button. It's simply low, mid or high and is marked clearly.

Feature Packed and Accurate
I was lucky enough to receive a Casio AQ-S800W which has remarkable accuracy, gaining only about 5 seconds each month (spec is +/-30 sec/month). It also looks great. It is more understated and smaller than the version which has the screws showing. This module is perhaps the best one Casio make for their budget watches. It is accurate, solar-powered and fun to use. Despite what other reviews say, setup is simple as is scrolling each day to use the features. I enjoy how you can check the battery status. You can cycle digital time, day or date. In darkness the digital display goes to sleep but wakes up as soon as there is light or you need it. The way the hands are synchronized to the digital display is neat. There is even a feature to re-align them. This is an amazing watch. Light, comfortable and a lot of fun to play with. For the black and orange model sold here, only the hands are luminous. For the black and white version, the numbers are luminous too. Oh, it also has the world time feature and two countdown timers! It lacks the world map of course but it can do pretty much everything the Casio Royale can including the quick dual-button time zone swap.

Inexpensive watch on solar power
This is a nice watch and very cheap. Does the job ok. On a positive side, it is sun-powered so no need of charging or battery replacement as long as there is a light source. I also liked the time zone adjustment - the hands start spinning and stop at the right time when you change the time zone. Unfortunately, it looks cheap. Cheap plastic, very rigid stripe. Time is hard to read because of plastic glass glare on bright light. Very difficult to check time in the night - the backlit is too faint. Overall, this is a good raffle prize for charity events but not for serious use.
