Since the filter in the Dyson handheld units has to be rinsed out regularly, I've found it useful to have extras on hand because the filter must be air dried which takes several hours. On the one hand, I can certainly manage to do without the vacuum for a few hours, but it's a pain to have it lying about disassembled. If I put it back together and store it waiting for the filter to dry, I can forget the filter hasn't been replaced and use it with no filter which could be damaging. Seemed a much better idea to have extras I could put in right away, and when the original was dry I store it for use the next time I change the filter.Having the extras has worked really well and I no longer stress about drying time. I have the DC35 handheld and the DC44 handheld with the long wand and power brushes. This filter fits fine in both. The only difference I was able to discern from the standard Dyson filter was that the tab used to pull the filter out of the handheld is placed slightly differently. Because it sticks up instead of lying flat, it takes a bit more pressure to reassemble the two parts of the Dyson unit because of that, but that wasn't a big deal for me. The unit works perfectly with this filter.Over the years I've accumulated multiple Dysons including an upright that also has filters to change. I have a second set of each kind I need and change them all at the beginning of each calendar quarter. That way it's easy to remember and all the filters are dealt with at once. When they are dry after rinsing, I put them away for use when I next repeat the drill.When I needed a second filter for my latest addition (the long wand unit) I decided to try this version because it was easy to get on Amazon and less expensive. The filter is working great and I'm pleased with it. The pictures show the front and back views of the filter. There is just one in the package.

This filter looks and functions just like the OEM filter, and it is good to have a spare to swap out, since the filter needs to be rinsed and dried before reusing. This filter being dirty is a main cause of the Dyson repeatedly shutting off while you're using it. When you reach your personal annoyance threshold, replace the filter and continue vacuuming, then wash the other one and let it air dry.I find the Dyson to be a very quirky device. It doesn't 'just work'. Having a spare on hand will make it somewhat less quirky.

I got this when the original filter for my DC-31 started to tear along the top edge. It works, but it seems more material is slipping past the filter. I haven't run a side-by-side comparison, so it might have been my use rather than the filter. But when I open the unit to clean the filter there is more accumulated dust/debris on the "clean" side of the filter than there used to be with the factory filter.

this filter does not fit and is <<not>> a re3placement for the stock DC35 filter. The outside rubber gasket is a completely different design than the original and does not seat correctly <at all> in the blower -- it ius not designed to seal. Further, the whole filter therefore "bows out" and clearly is the wrong filter for this unit. To top it off, the small tab designed to allow filter removal faces <inward> on the stock filter and <outward> on this one -- right in the way of the rubber gasket seal. It is conceivable that putting this filter in the blower unit could damage the DC35. I did not bother tryingIf you have a DC35, do not buy this filter.Where oh where is the "zero stars" when you need it.....

Dyson clearly states in their user manuals that after washing the pre-filter it must be *completely dry* before using it again. In my experience, the filter can take as long as two days to completely dry. I simply cannot be without use of my Dyson vacuum cleaner that long. Having a spare filter allows me to wash one, set it aside to dry, and use the other in the interim. Original equipment Dyson replacement filters are very expensive; this is less expensive and fits perfectly.

You need one of these or two. I didn't realize how big of an annoyance the shut down on the vac is when the filter is dirty. I have this at a ready. Once it shuts down, I pull the one that is in, replace it with the clean one and continue. When done, I wash the one that was pulled so that I always have a spare. That combined with a spare battery makes cleaning go by quickly and efficiently.

Not sure how it'll hold up over time, but so far the quality seems to be there, and the fit was the same as the factory part. As long as it doesn't fall apart on me, I'd purchase again.

I love the simplicity and ease of use of the portable Dyson vacuums. This is a needed accessory for swapping out filters. Just make sure to wash it thoroughly and dry it in the sun.

Poor fit.

This product it's constructed very well but it did not conform to the original product dimensions , I had to force it into the compartment of my vacuum but now is working great , I definitely recommend this product if you are trying to save a bit of money . It performs perfectly to the original filter

It says on Amazon that it fits DC34. It says on the product only that it fits DC35. It does not fit DC34. It, therefore does not do what it was described as doing.

Once installed, the filter works great. It didn't seem to fit that well, so it takes an extra second and a bit more attention to make sure it is seated well. Other than that, it's a great product.

It worked fine.
