Crosswords for Kids (American Mensa Puzzle Books) Paperback – December 31, 1999

I used these crossword books when I taught school, now I am giving them to my grandchildren, 2nd and 4th grade. These promote synonyms, antonyms, thinking around a clue and correct spelling is required! It is a wonderful activity for kids to have in the car for trips, or as a practice page when there is no homework. My fourth graders loved them for many years. When clues were too difficult it helped us engage in some good conversation or forced them to look up the answers for the puzzle.

A little more difficult than I thought it would be. I will put it away and give it to my daughter next year

My granddaughters always wanted to join in my crossword puzzle solving.They were frustrated and got bored very quicklyI bought them this book, and they were busy, solving and they just loved it.Some puzzles were too easy for the 9 year old, but most were right up her alley.We all do puzzles together, and it's great for their vocabulary and for theirthinking process. I love it.

My daughter, 8, a strong reader with a good vocabulary, kept trying to do New York Times crossword puzzles, but kept getting frustrated because the clues so often had cultural references totally out of her realm of experience.And when I searched online for kids' puzzles, the ones I found were generally very simplistic -- really vocabulary quizzes rather than puzzles.This book is perfect for her. Just challenging enough to be interesting, but she can actually complete most of them, which thrills her. Great buy. We'll get more in the series when she'd done.
