NOVA 47001 Comet II Versaturn Bed Extension Lathe Accessory

Heavy. Good quality. Attaching the bed extension went very smoothly. Clear instructions. Bed levels aligned perfectly with very little fuss. My OCD wishes the bed extension had been available in Nova’s original color (see photo), but I’ll get over it. LOL Nice to have the extended capabilities.

For the price this is a great buy. It was a little difficult to adjust the extension, once done it all works fine.

My bed extension came in on time and in good shape. It was very easy to install. I read other reviews where people hade mentioned there were threads on the end which was causing problems with mounting. From what I've seen on mine, the holes on the end that actually mount to the lathe do not have threads and the holes on the "foot end" (the other end is wider and has rubber feet that screw on) has threaded holes so you can mount another bed extension on to that if you wanted to. It is a little snug getting your fingers under the bed to put in the screws, but that is expected. There was a little binding at first but with a little adjustment, it leveled out more and had a smoother transition to the main bed. I made a temporary stand for the end of the extension and when I have more time I will make a better looking stand and actually bolt it down. I'm giving it 4 stars for now simply because I've only turned relatively smaller pieces and haven't gotten to try a large piece. I will update later. As of now I would recommend this product.

Very nice bed extension. As with previous extensionson on other mini and midi lathes lathe the Allen head bolt in the upper left quadrant is very difficult to access and tighten this is just the way all of the units are designed. Have a ball end long reach Allen wrench available simplifies the installation and tightening of the bolts. Do not tighten all until everything is aligned. Make sure the tail stock slides smoothly across the intersection then cinch every thing up. Put a coat of wax on the bed surfaces at least monthly. Sweat dripping super glue etc can gum it up.

Received an entirely different item.And I waited too long to open it up and check it out. My return window had expired.

Have only bolted this up to my Comet II a few times but this extension gives you some serious room to turn down long items. The quality is excellent and have not found anything negative about this item. Typical Nova ... quality product that exceeds my expectations every time.

Solid bit casting was rough. Had to do someMajor filing and flattening to get the railsTo line up with those on the lathe.

Great extension for my Comet II Midi lathe. I bought this one because it is a good deal less expensive than those imported after Trump's tariffs took effect.Installation was very straightforward, all necessary hardware is included. A suitable size hex bit socket and ratchet with extension bars does make running the Allen head bolts in much easier.
