A very good and economical solution for folks who have trouble sitting into or rising out of a chair.
My elderly father has severe arthritis in his knees and rising from his recliner was very difficult, not to mention, painful. The EZ Rise works very well and has proved to be a great solution! It's sturdy and aids him significantly. It takes a degree of acclimation but he gets a lot of help rising from ( and lowering himself into, for that matter ) his recliner. I personally tested the device before I gave it to him to use and found the cushion slightly inadequate ... I knew if I were using it for extended periods of time, it would probably become uncomfortable. But my Dad only weighs 143 lbs. and even though he spends 4-6 hours at a stretch sitting on it, he finds it comfortable and hasn't complained in the three weeks he has been using it daily. By contrast, I weigh 200# and, so, if it were for me, I would enhance the cushion. The unexpected benefit of the seat is his improved posture and sitting position which I'm sure will benefit him long term. The only negative issue is size. The seat would work nicely in dining or maybe even side chairs (its an over-sized device, to be sure) but my Dad's recliner is at least 8-10 inches wider than the EZ Rise. Sometimes he finds himself slipping off one side or the other or the whole seat shifts because the recliner is vinyl and allows for the apparatus to move. But it works so well, otherwise, that I intend to test a few solutions to this problem... to figure it out myself. I expect that the answer is to secure it with straps. I mention the issue as a point of information, in the interest of full disclosure, but it would not prevent me from recommending it to others. Overall, it has been a very good and economical solution to his particular mobility issues.

Short life
It worked really well for 2 weeks and then the lift wouldn't work again.

Once that was working right it was wonderful for him
My father is not a large or heavy man. He had a bit trouble at first getting the seat to go down. Once that was working right it was wonderful for him. Now using less than 2 months it broke already. The plastic frame inside the material cracked. Now it wont work!

I like this helper and am still getting used to how ...
BE CAREFUL! I read the instructions and set the weight well below what I weigh. I am a tall, heavy woman who has Muscular Dystrophy. My feet and lower legs are paralyzed. I wear AFO braces in order to walk with the assistance of a walker. The first time I sat on the HD EZ Rise Power Seat and leaned slightly forward, it scared the daylights out of me because it snapped up so fast and tossed me right out of my seat. Thankfully, I had a friend standing in front of me to help me stay balanced and on my feet. As explained in the instructions, it works in a chair with arms. It could work on a flat, solid surface if you don't dare lean to one side or the other as that will engage the lifting mechanism. It does not work in a chair with a padded seat with no arms and in fact could be dangerous as it slips to the side and you could fall to the floor (I found this out in front of a crowd at a restaurant). This scenario is cautioned in the instructions, but I thought if I was careful and sat very still I could manage it, so it was my fault. All in all, I like this helper and am still getting used to how it feels when it starts to lift and using it in various environments.

Failed after 1.5 weeks.
I'm not very happy. The EZ rise Power Seat lasted about a week, set at 180 when my weight was 177. I loved it at first. Sat on it one day and it felt weird. Seat was wobbly and uncomfortable. Piston had slipped to 125 and would no longer work. Also feels like something else is broken inside where the velcro is. It is no longer of any use. vWill not purchase again and will not recommend to anyone. Waste of a lot of money.

Stand without help.
I use this on a daily bases. If I did not have this seat I would be stuck setting in one place until I had help to get up. Not any more. This seat has given me the freedom to get up and do the things I need to do without asking for assistance from family to help me up to do what I needed. It's like freedom again for me. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs assistance getting up out of low chairs. It's a little push in the right direction. Lol!

Rise EZ Power Seat
The Power Seat works okay for lifting meup but I can't sit on it very long as it is not padded well enough and gets uncomfortable.

Just what I needed!!
This item has been a godsend for me. My husband has severe dementia & can't use a lot of the products out there, even when they are simple to use. If it takes any thought or work on his part, he can't do it. With this seat, all he has to do is sit down & stand up, the seat does the rest.
