So I really love the album. I had it when I was in high school. I could not find the album anywhere and was so excited to find it here. I ran to my mailbox today, ripped open the package and smiled from ear to ear. Then I'm telling my husband about how this is one of those great albums you can listen to over and over. And I go to play track one.....and as the chorus hits, I am left dumbfounded to find it edited. My husband laughed at me for a good minute. I will still listen to it. But my 3 stars is because it is edited for safe ears and I am 30 and live my life one inappropriate word at time.

Came quick, as promised, with a handwritten “Thank you,” on the receipt. It was it perfect condition and plays well.

If you like the guitar rock genre ( Or alt rock, or whatever its called these days) This band is for you. The front man, Sean Danielsen, is a very strong singer, songwriter, lyricist and has written an excellent rock album. I just saw these guys live and raw sound on the CD pays off as the live performance is 100% faithful to the recorded work. The album has good balance between hard driving rock numbers and more introspective acoustic pieces. It all comes off pretty authentic like this band is playing from the heart and starting to see some success as opposed to a band looking to get a hit and make some money. Overall a very worthwile album to buy. I think this band has a bright future. Make sure to get out and see them live if they stop by your area!

I fell in love with this band by a chance hearing shortly after the album came out. Had the typical lost CD, lost copy I had made of it and became doubtful I'd ever find a good copy again. Thanks to Amazon I now have this amazing album back, digital backup made and I am back to reliving why I fell in love with Smile Empty Soul!

I bought this used and i got this quicker then the tracking said it would which i liked. the CD case was cracked which is why i gave it 4 stars i would have given it 4 an a half but it wouldnt let me, but the CD had no scratches which is what counts.

激しさと憂いが絶妙にブレンドされたテイスト、悩ましく重いギターリフの合間に、随所に聞かれる枯れた、そして、どこかに懐かしさをも感じさせるようなフレーズ。いったい、ほんとうに彼らは新人バンドなのだろうか？カリフォルニアのサンタクラリタで結成されたheavy alternative rockbandなのだが、ロックバンドとしては、最も基本的なユニットであるトリオで、モノクロで素朴なフレーズをたたき出す。どこか物悲しげに語りかけるボーカルが、魂に突き刺さるようなメロディーに乗って微笑みかける。エレクトリックな楽曲とアコースティックな楽曲を巧みにブレンドしながらも、曲間の繋がりは違和感を感じさせず、その流れは音像的であるよりは映像的なのだ。彼らのモノクロなロックテイストは、２００３年リリースの本作を聴き進むうちに、原色の絵の具が音像に滲み込んで来る。ストレートな憂いのあるギターリフであるにも関わらず、聴き手の感覚はサイケデリックな空間に解放されるようだ。今後、彼らのＳｏｕｌは僕らにどんな化学変化を起こさせてくれるのだろう？そんな期待を抱かせるシンプルでストレートなロックバンドだ。最後に彼らをご紹介します。　■Sean Danielsen : Vocals,Guitar　■Ryan Martin : Vocals,Bass　■Derek Gledhill : Vocals,Drums

１曲目のbottom of a bottleが最高にcool!Vo.の声はthe usedとlostprophetsを足した感じ。アルバム全体はちょっとしっとりしすぎ？もうちょっと疾走感があったほうが良かったと思う。lostprophetsを３ピースバンドにしたと思えばわかりやすいのかもしれない。あと歌詞が読みにくい。気にしない人は気にしないかも。だがこんなに良いバンドを日本人はなぜチェックしないのか不思議だ。２ndアルバムに期待とゆうことで星は４つだが、経験をつめばきっと良いバンドになると確信しているので気になった人は必ず買っておいたほうが得だろう

This album puts its best foot forward in the first four songs from the thrilling opener to the acoustic lament of "This is War". Thereafter, the remaining tracks descend into a somewhat repetitive groove well worn by other bands such as Staind and Lifehouse. Matters are not helped by the rather adolescent lyrics and earnest vocal delievery. That said the production is crystal clear and the band play with real commitment. You will have heard all this music before elsewhere but the first four tracks make this CD a worthwhile purchase.
