Good Derman alternative
This works just as good as the old Derman before they changed the active ingredient. I actually like it even better than Derman. It has a slight smell that is somewhere between bubble gum and cinnamon, but it fades very quickly especially if you are only using a thin layer. Overall I think the smell is slightly better than the old Derman which was kind of metallic smelling. Great product, very happy I can still get this active ingredient as its the only thing that actually works for my skin.

Contains the only ingredients that have always worked against athlete's foot (for me).
Back in the old days (1990's) I used to use Desenex to kill my athlete's foot, and it worked very well, both the powder and the cream. But big pharma has changed the formulas for athelet's foot medications to make them less effective so that they can sell more. I have an old can of Desenex powder that I saved from 1993, and the 'Active' ingredients are listed as "Total undecylenate 25%, as undecylenic acid and undecylenate." That is why it was effective, but the new products commonly available in stores in the U.S. do not contain those ingredients. Instead, they contain such ingredients as Clotrimazole or Terbinafine Hydrochloride, which mildly inhibit fungal growth but do not eradicate the fungus as does undecylenic acid. Another brand that has bowed to the pressures of big pharma is 'Derman'; until a few years ago, their active ingredients per 100 grams were "18.0 g Zinc Undecylenate and 5.0 g Undecylenic Acid", but now the so-called 'active' ingredient is 1% Tolnaftate (as in 'Tinactin'), which I have never found to be effective. In short, I have found Mycota cream and powder to be very effective, and I believe it is because they contain the ingredients (undecylenates) that used to make Desenex so effective.

Effective and difficult to find replacement for Derman
Now that Derman has changed their formula to be a completely different product, this is one of the few options for a zinc undecylenate/undecylenic acid cream. I'd had good luck treating and preventing fungal infections with the old style Derman, so tried this product as an alternative. Some notable differences include:1. Strong scent, compared to Derman's more natural scent. This is strong, but not unpleasant, and could possibly cover some foot odor as a secondary benefit, if needed.2. This is a bit more white and creamy, and less sticky than the old style Derman, but still a bit more viscous than the new style Derman (which I don't like). I still actually prefer the consistency of the old Derman, as it seems to stay on better, but this product is okay.Overall, if you're looking for a replacement for Derman, with similar active ingredients to their old formula, before they ruined it, this is adequate, though not ideal. If it were a bit cheaper I could recommend it more highly, as, historically, the low cost was another big advantage of Derman, which is no longer the case, unfortunately.
