Grease seals installed backwards?
Just recently received this order that came as promised and doing a little research I’m puzzled is there a reason these grease seals seem to be installed backwards? I’m not professional mechanic Any seals I’ve ever installed had the inner spring towards the load material with the I received three of The spindles a great price versus OEM and seem to be of Adequate quality from appearance I’m puzzled about the seals also with no weep hole and if it has sealed bearings on both sides roller bearings I don’t think Grease will be able to get into the bearings ? somebody had any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated and I will respond after I completely installed I have to take it apart if I can’t find a reason to Massile to be installed in reverse I plan on taking it apart taking the bearing covers off the inside towards the grease drilling a weep hole and reassemble. I know some may not agree with the Weep hole however I Tend to Grease my equipment frequently thanks for any help.

Works perfectly for my 72" King Kutter
I only needed one spindle, but this set of three cost less than what the local farm supply stores wanted for just one, so I gave it a shot.Though they aren't absolutely perfect, as I there was a small bit of casting flash left in a spot on the housing so a mounting bolt wouldn't go through, that was rectified in 30 seconds with my Dremel. But for the price? Unbeatable. Absolutely unbeatable.

OK for the price
OK for the price. One blade fell off because the bolt stripped out in the first half an hour. The grease Zerk‘s didn’t workI had to replace them in order to grease it. I would use your old bolts for the blades these ones are to soft.

Be careful greasing these spindles and adjusting belt tension
I would recommend pumping grease into these spindles before installing them so you can make sure the grease caps do not blow out. I installed first but couldn't find any information in the manual regarding how much grease to add. I kept pumping and expected to see grease squeeze out from above the blade or under the pulley. There is no weep hole and the grease seals are tight, so if you over-grease it will pop the top seal off and/or push the lower seal against the spindle cap above the blade. I had to take the pulley and blade off two spindles (blew the cap off one, tore apart the other to see where the caps were originally). It would also be a good idea to get new bolts to install these spindles. Half of my bolts were in bad shape and one sheared during disassembly. These spindles fit on a Dark Horse finish mower, which was presumably built by King Kutter as a cheaper import before the brand was discontinued. The parts all appear to match, except the Dark Horse uses chains instead of solid bars for part of the 3PH assembly. The King Kutter manual also lacks clear information about belt tightness. The belt diagram appears to be misleading. It shows the tensioner idler pulley (the wheel that swings on a spring arm) nearly in line with the two fixed idler pulleys that are mounted at the corners of the gearbox plate. This requires lots of tension. In my case, when I tightened the adjuster to match the belt diagram, the tensioner idler pulley made contact with the fiberglass top cover. The spindle pulleys also seemed excessively hot after running for a while. I backed down the tension enough for the spring-loaded pulley to stay at least an inch away from the top cover. So far it seems to be working fine.

As good as it gets
These are a direct replacement for the originals. Easy to install and are holding up well.

Different spindle than originals.
Not the same as what was on the mower but they work. Quiet but the pulleys haven't stayed tight. They tick while running the mower.
