Meh!
Perhaps this author wasn't clear about her audience profile, and she tried to reach too broadly. In other words, she hoped to attract the interest of people who understood the science of forensic anthropology as well as those who were just learning. She also enjoyed spotting in a few special details about herself (what she was wearing etc.) and while these added color, they didn't advance much for either audience. Additionally, there were no wrap ups about the cases. Were the murders solved with her help? The little stories were left dangling. I got tired of the switch back and forths between details and generalizations and finally gave up, realizing that whatever I was interested in about this science was not to be found in this book.

Leaves You Hanging
The science is what I came for and it's not really too in depth on that. Of course, the subject matter can be disgusting but you knew that. I wish two things: that the science of it was more detailed (I don't really want to hear about the little jokes exchanged between Mary and cops), and I wish there was a short disclosure at the end of each case that tells us whether this one or that one acquired a suspect in the cases of murder, went to trial, what the final upshot was etc. What's funny is that the forensic author leaves us hanging after she determines age , race and manner of death. That's where SHE feels comfortable leaving the story because that's what her job is, but we're here for more than that as most people would be.

Wonderful
Wonderful. Unsung duties carried out daily. I always recall walking by her building knowing such important work and dedicated special people were there. I only hope more continue the important work while Mrs. Manheim enjoys her retirement.

Love it...
Great book... An introduction to forensic anthropology and crime scene investigation. I highly recommended to CSI enthusiasts. I can't wait for her next book.

Nice read
It's always Nice to encounter someone who still is effected by the cases and has not become immune to death. I enjoyed learning about the FACES and hope to visit one-day.

Good Book
This is a good book, it's a little short and doesn't go into as much detail as I would've liked but I still enjoyed reading it.
