Briggs & Riley Baseline-Softside Medium Upright Rolling Duffle Bag, Black, 27-Inch

I used my previous Briggs & Riley for 25 years traveling all around the world and now it’s being used by a very lucky thrift store buyer. This new one looks like it will hold up for several decades. Solidly made and thoughtfully designed. Roomy and versatile.

This is our fifth piece of Briggs & Riley and it continues to confirm the truth: They make the BEST luggage you can buy. Yes, its pricey. So don't buy a whole set at once--replace pieces one by one if you must but you MUST REPLACE THEM with something with quality that LASTS, features that make sense, and this bag is a great place to start for your "big" bag. The combo of a flat spot for the fold-preservables and the duffel on top is a brilliant concept and the heavy-duty stitching, materials, wheels, and workmanship means that nothing the gnomes at the airlines can do to it will harm it. We have its little brother, a roll-aboard overnight bag, and cases for both our laptops from this company and will buy MORE as the need arises. Yes, I know, I know, it is EXPENSIVE! But you are paying for TOP QUALITY, not "designer name" nonsense. Honest! Get some. Now.

My second round of grown-up luggage. I ditched the red set from my 20s and went for Briggs and Riley. This bag holds an unbelievable amount of stuff. I packed shoes, bottles in the secret compartment bottom, clothes and everything else in the room middle. It had all of my clothes as well as my children's for a two-week trip to Paris. You'd think small children wouldn't need much but you'd be wrong. (We also used their suitcases.)It is not a stand and roll, which might be nice but I'm not sure it would work with the shape of the bag. Straps are durable, zipper is strong and sturdy.

Used it for the first time to South Africa and it was perfect. The size was perfect, it was durable, I was able to fit all my clothes, shoes and toiletries...and stayed within the luggage requirements. There was no scratches, scrapes when I got back... it basically looked brand new.

I really wanted this bag to work, but it didn't.Pros: Easy to pack. I travel for a lot for work and pack all my items in eagle creek squares and dropping them into this suitcase was quick and easy. The separation of top and bottom was handy for packing shoes, etc.Cons: As another reviewer noted, it's too large. The infrastructure does not support the size (tips forward, handle wobbled something fierce, not enough handles to help lug it up train steps, etc.). I am a loyal B&R user and have my suitecases that have over 500 flights apiece so this experience doesn't deter me from buying this brand - I'll just be buying a smaller version of a more traditional style.

Very roomy and love the split compartments for my shoes and hair products! The top compartment for my clothes holds more than my old Samsonite hard case and couldn't believe how much room there was without needing to pack it all down. I had 4 pants 3 heavy wool blazers, jeans and other tops with still more room! The durability is exactly what is advertised and can't be more pleased. I had a pair of boots, 2 pair of shoes, 2 bags of liquids and makeup plus the hair dryer and 2 curling irons in the bottom compartment. All I can say is THANK YOU Briggs & Riley!

The quality is top-notch, but unless I was planning on using it to travel with lots of things wrapped in bubble wrap, it's just too big. Have flown with it twice, and both times had problems with it being over the airline's allowed weight, had to shift stuff from it to other bags. Going to have to be relegated to road trips with the family where weight isn't an issue. It does store A TON of stuff, and seems to be built very well. B&R have a legendary warranty, so I have full confidence in its ability to hold up for the long haul, but I'd caution against this one if you're planning on flying with it since you will go overweight if you pack it anywhere near full.

Briggs and Riley make fantastic products! I also own a laptop backpack. Love the bottom feature of the suitcase. It has a zippered storage area where I’ll be keeping shoes. High-quality.

I bought my original Briggs & Riley wheeled duffle over 15 years ago. I wanted to get another one as the wheels wore out, and the zipper pulls broke (zippers were fine). I know you can send the bag in for a repair which I will do with the old one, but it was time for a new one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this wheeled duffle. With the 2 compartments, you can fit everything you need. I just wish they made it in more colors. I would have preferred the burgundy or olive or blue, but I got a great price on the black one on Amazon. Couldnt be happier. Vendor was great. it arrived on time and ready for my trip. so Briggs and Riley - please dont discontinue this model. It is great!!1

Amazing bag. I was in need of a new Ref bag (hockey) and couldn't find anything that worked. I asked my friend (a NHL ref) and he recommended this bag.I was sceptical about the value ($635) for a bag, but knowing the amazing warranty and the fact I was in need for a bag I placed the order. Never been happier. I will never need to buy another hockey bag. EVER.

I have had a Briggs and Riley large duffel for about 9 years. I travel all the time more than 50 flights per year and this suitcase is what i live out of - it has become a bit worn and travel stained so I decide to replace it with another Briggs and Riley large duffel that I am very happy with, beautifully designed and works perfectly for me. Not cheap but great. However, Amazon had it delivered by Fastway in Australia and that was not good. On the date I was notified I waited all day not going anywhere. Eventually I called Fastway late in the day to be told that the driver had decided to take it back to the depot first thing that morning and it would be delivered sometime the next day - no word to me all day! The next day again I waited and had to call to find out whether it would be delivered, eventually it was. Get a good shipper Amazon!

B&R just makes a great bag. My only complaint is they need more locations for returns, but the bags themselves are fantastic.
