A solid, sturdy new reprint
Anyone interested in Bergson's important but challenging study of the mind and memory needs to know that this is an excellent edition--a sturdy translation of the book's fifth French edition published in English in 1911. It is attractive with ample margins. The publishers did an excellent job with this 2011 reprint. Do not confuse this print edition with the Kindle editions of this book as these are unreadable, at their best an indication of what can go wrong with optical scanning.

Very small font, makes it difficult to read
The font used for this book is very small and I have to use a magnifying glass to read it. I don’t know if I will be able to get into this book. I’m sorry I bought it.

In this book:
Bergson solves the mind/body problem by observing the false problem. There is nothing more I could say to elaborate that isn't said better in the book... This was the Zone Publishing edition which is quite nice, and definitely worth purchase.

Paperback edition formatted correctly
The paperback edition is perfectly formatted and very readable. I initially bought another edition because I was scared off by the kindle review; wish I had just bought this one.

Look elsewhere....
I have purchased both the Kindle and Paperback format. Both of these have so many mistakes it is obnoxious to read through. As another reviewer has stated, its bad enough that they misprint the authors last name on the binding (Henri Bergman). It's the first sign of general neglect the publisher has put into reviewing the work itself. There are periods in places of commas all about the book. The citation breaks statements consistently and oddly. There are one or two points where there is a break in a sentence as if starting a new paragraph. All of these things make it a difficult task to decipher what Bergson is trying to communicate at times where it is important.I am pretty sure that they found a copy of a pdf online and reformatted it with little care. Please take the consideration of the 1 star ratings this book has been getting. I would suggest finding a copy elsewhere.

Complex, but Enlightening
Bergson is the best philosopher there is, in my opinion. I completely understand the love that Deleuze has for Bergsonian thought, now. Definitely worth the read.

Great book - horrible edition
This is horrible edition of a great book.It feels cheap - the layout is horrible (small margins, lines are too long, crowded pages, no indication of which chapter you are in at the top of the pages which makes looking up references difficult, no page breaks between new chapters which makes even flicking through to find them hard), there are many typographical errors - almost every other page, the cover is low-resolution and feels cheap, the diagrams are badly printed. All in all this makes reading it much less enjoyable than it could be. If you're looking for a cheap study edition it's fine, if you want a nice version to keep and enjoy then look elsewhere.>>>Edit>>>After further reading I am reducing this from 2 stars to 1. There are parts in the text where it refers to a diagram on page 211, there are less than 200 pages in this edition! Hasn't even been proofed as far as I can tell. This review refers to the Digireads.com edition. I just got the Zone Books edition and it's much better.

Scholarly correct edition
There is some confusion here over editions. The one star review has been misplaced, as it says the alternative Zone edition is fine - but this is the Zone edition. Anyway, the Zone edition is the scholarly edition to buy and is the one used by professional university philosophers working on Bergson.
