I've had so much trouble with programming cables over the years, especially if i was trying to use one with the Prolific chipset.You waste hours reinstalling drivers, absolutely infuriating....but with these cables, you plug it into your computer, Windows recognises it straight away, sets it up itself with zero input from the user and voila...it works...It worked with Chirp straight away, works with all the Chinese sets CPS i've tried, Baofeng, Quansheng etcCouldn't be happier...great price too, I might buy a second just to have a spare on hand.

It works it's cheap

The cable I had been using for years failed following a driver update, displaying the error message: "THIS IS NOT A PROLIFIC2303. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER." This issue arose because the market is inundated with counterfeit hardware. A driver update was released to prevent these clones from functioning. After purchasing another cable that also failed, I was hesitant to try again. However, I can confirm that this cable works correctly with the updated drivers on Windows 11, specifically with the Baofeng UV-5R and the UV-17. I hope this information is useful to those in a similar predicament.

Did the job for me but I found the instructions a little difficult to decipher. There is a little guesswork involved although I got there in the end and reprogrammed my radios (2 radios, a UV-5R and a BF-888S).The cable works well but the software for the 5r is in Japanese, you have to apply what you used for the 888 software - the "guesswork". The 888 software is Japanese by default but can be changed to English using supplied instructions.There

Works perfectly as a Baofeng cable. Easier and quicker ordering it from Amazon rather than having to wait 2 weeks ordering it from them directly.While it came with the CD, I didn't need to use it as I programmed my radios using Chirp.

Can confirm that this programming lead works on Windows 11, with no driver issues unlike on some other leads. had it working with the programming software as soon as plugging in to the laptop.

Second one of these I've tried but can't get them to work on my iMac. The cable isn't recognised when running "/dev/cu*". The driver cd is a small one which doesn't fit in my iMacs drive so I have no idea if there is anything on there to get this to work. I'll be returning this and buying one from Baofeng.

I was a little apprehensive about the programming cable as I am new to this radio listening/ham community. However as soon as I received the cable I could see that it was a quality item.It really is well made with a quality cable, the connectors are well machined to fit the Quansheng radio directly.Some youtube sites they say that generally the cables are a bad push fit, these fit perfectly into the side of the radio, the signal passed, seems to be fast and with no dropout.The cable does have a software cd disc that comes with it. This is to enable software on your laptop to connect correctly with the radio. It was already installed on my 2 laptops. The software contains a dozen or so programmes relating to the various radio connections, to instal on your p.c. so you can't go wrong.Back to playing with the Quansheng KV5 radio. DB.
