Accessible, Well written, and Necessary!
I chose to use this as an introductory text in a university Native American history class. I initially saw it as just a supplement to Colin Calloway's First Peoples, but it is an excellent book. Initially I was going to use Anton Treuer's Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians but Were Afraid to Ask. I like that book a lot and it is a useful supplement, but All The Real Indians . . . has more historical depth, but is just as readable. It really whetted my students's desire to learn more and get into their research projects. I spent a lot of time on Amazon reading the reviews of numerous books on Native American issues, and I do think this is the best I could have chosen. I will probably change other books and things about the class since this was the first time that I had the opportunity to teach this subject, but this book will remain required. If you are getting books on this subject for your personal benefit, get both Treuer's book and this one. The short question and answer format of Treuer's book is very accessible, but then move to this one. I truly do not think you will regret it.

A Must-Read
This book is full of important and compelling information about the survival of indigenous Americans despite centuries of injustice and brutality at the hands of European explorers and settlers. The writing style is interesting and matter-of-fact, and doesn't come off as pitying, sensationalist, or strident. A timeline of key events is especially helpful. I highly recommend this book.

Truth! Facts! Written in a proud Native way. A must read.
Very factual. Truth. So many stupid myths are out there. I wish they would make this a mandatory read in school. When non-indians ask me questions. I tell them to read this book. Should help in getting rid of misinformed racial slurs.

Valuable Insights
This is a great book which will challenge many accepted myths about Native Culture. It is so good to have this as a resource for people. Powerful and real. On my third copy because I keep giving it away to friends!

Makes you question American’s foundational beliefs about ourselves.
A real eye opener. Meticulously researched and presented in easily digestible bites - a good thing, because it’s a heck of a lot to chew on! It leaves you wondering about America’s great narratives. Are they all built on the pain and suffering of others? You be the judge in this most compelling read.

Good book. A little basic but thats ok
Good book. A little basic but thats ok. Even with that said, I learned a couple of new things. Good start for people unfamiliar with the topic. Easy read. Probably should be a mandatory read for every school kid in America.

So good.
I highly recommend this book as a 101-type of book in exploring more about Native American history. There was so much I didn't know. I think this book should be used as part of a high school curriculum.
