great home gym
This home gym is a tank compared to others that I have tried. The shipping package is 498 lbs. That should tell you something. The P1X is very easy to use and has numerous exercise positions and settings. It is a well designed machine. The steel is very heavy and all of the pivot points are assembled with heavy duty shafts and bushings. It should last forever. You can quickly and easily switch between settings to do various exercises. I especially like the adjustable press bar. I am 61, 220 lbs. and 6' 1''. So I am not a small guy but not huge either. The other home gym that I tried was a Gold's Gym and the press bar handles were positioned about half way back the side of my chest. I had to attempt to reach back and start my presses with may hands behind me. For someone of my age that is impossible. I actually hurt my shoulder attempting to do this. In contrast this gym allows you to adjust the press bar and seat for just about any size person so that you can use the gym properly. The manual has a lot of great information on stretching, proper exercise form, etc. I do have a few complaints. For the money that you spend the gym should have come with the extra 50lb.weight stack add on. Actually Powerline should sell the P2X for what they charge for the P1X with the extra 50lb. weight stack included. The unit was very well packaged. I did have to bend a pulley mount to get the holes to line up to install the pulley. The seat also is a little angled to the left and not perfectly straight. The top mount for the press bar is very solid but it does wiggle a little which means the shaft isn't as tight in the tube as it should be. When you pay as much money for this gym as you do these quality control items should not be there. If I were not mechanically skilled I wouldn't have been able to put the gym together. They have also made some minor changes to the assembly but have not updated their assembly instructions. Over all the instructions are good. I did read that some folks didn't like the instructions but I found them to be good but you must read them carefully and follow them to the letter. The bottom line is that this is an excellent machine and that is why I gave it a 5 star rating. I have had good home gyms and really junk home gyms so I am comparing this to all of the various gyms that I have tried. Powerline does need to get better on quality control at the China assembly plant. They also need to update the instruction manual to reflect the exact assembly pieces. They also need to tell you in the manual how much weight you are actually pushing or pulling at each station. Overall I would recommend purchasing this machine to anyone. As they say you get what you pay for and this machine is worth the money. It is a very heavy machine so pay close attention to where you put it in you home. Make sure that your floor will hold the combined weight of you and the gym. Mine sits on a carpeted concrete floor in the basement so it isn't an issue.

Solid Machine, Good Value, Some assembly pains...
Delivery I am fortunate to have a receiving department at work and set up the delivery within the days offered with a 9AM -12PM guarantee. The machine was being delivered by ABF. Noon came and went with no delivery. I called and the dispatcher informed me that there were several other guaranteed deliveries ahead of mine and the driver must have been delayed on one of them. The truck arrived around 2:30 PM. The truck had a lift gate on it, which I did not need due to having a forklift. It was nice to know that the machine is pre-approved for a lift gate delivery if needed. Packaging The machine came palletized, strapped and shrink wrapped. It was very secure and I saw no visible damage or crumpling. On the pallet were 6 boxes. Two were large and flat with the largest weighing 107 lbs. The next was around 78 lbs. There was a longer skinny box that weighed about 20 lbs. Finally, three small boxes each containing 5, 10 lb weight plates were on the bottom. I was able to put the whole pallet in the back of my pickup (full size standard bed). It should be fairly easy to separate and load into truck if there is no way to load the whole pallet. Inside the boxes, most of the parts are tie-wrapped together and fairly secure. There were a few loose parts. I did not find any damaged parts. Fit and Finish The machine is very solid. The tubing is strong. There were not many components that seemed weak or out of place. The welds were definitely done by hand. While I did not see any welds that were blown through or thin, there was not much effort made to clean up around them prior to paint. The paint is odd and holds hand and fingerprints easily. There were many areas where the paint was rubbed during transit. Two bottles of touch up paint are supplied to clean up those areas. Assembly The book suggests it takes two professional assemblers 3 hours. It took me about 5-6 hours over several days. I also found the body solid website useful to look at the finished product. The illustrations in the manual are wrong in some cases. Some parts are illustrated in the wrong position and actual photos help to verify the correct orientation. For those reviewers that said you should be mechanically inclined to assemble and that there are significant errors in the instructions, well, they are right. It was obvious when a step was omitted. Some bolts are not on the card they should be. Some washers were missing. Most significantly, I came up short on the small pulleys. The book called for installing a 3 1/2" pulley in 5 locations but only supplied 4. I found myself with one extra 4 1/2" pulley and lacking the 3 1/2". I solved the problem by removing the 2nd pulley you install and replacing with the 4 1/2" (step 7C pulley A2). You can view the assembly instructions on the Body Solid website to get a feel for the assembly. All in all it was not too difficult to assemble if you take your time and double check the steps. As for the tools required. The manual mentions that you should have a 6, 8 and 10mm open-end wrench with the same size socket and ratchet optional. Note that the majority of the bolts are 10mm, which means you need a 17mm wrench or socket. I had no use for any of the tiny wrenches they specified. The rubber mallet comes in handy as suggested. The hex key wrenches were contained in a bag with the machine but a second set will help when tightening some screws. However the single most useful tool that was not mentioned was a box cutter or knife to both cut the tie wraps and cut the parts from the cards. Most of the rubber end plates and bushings were pre-installed. They were held secure with tie wraps. The end result is a solid machine. The pulleys glide easily. There are many adjustments that can be made to perform the various exercises. The 10-1 warranty is very good.

Absolutely Terrible! Don't buy this product
These instructions are not legible at all! We paid a high rated Tasker to try to assemble this thing and the instructions were so bad, it took 3 days, 12 hours worth of Tasker hours, and a wrong part that had to be shipped to us with no instruction. It's not worth the money! Don't buy this product. The customer service from this seller was also bad and they couldn't help us in any way. Even the customer service told us that the instructions are useless. Just don't waste your money on this. They should take it off of Amazon.

Versatile machine with many options
Have had this machine for 3 years now, using 5-6 times a week, and for the size & price, I'm amazed at the variety of muscles I'm able to workout. It's important to note this does not replace all the machines in a typical gym, but you can certainly get a good workout. I looked at all other machines/brands thoroughly and for the price this was best option. Have only had to change one cable which is great considering how often its used. Assembly is straightforward, but recommend having a second person to help. Only con is I wish it came with the leg press set, which can be bought separately. Also recommend buying the extra weights if you have been working out for a few years now.
