The only release by German act, Weed, plays a special role among the more obscure Krautrock acts from the seventies. The unconventional music produced by Weed has to be seen within the context of the German music scene of that time, still looking for its own identity and experimenting with a diversity of curious stylistic directions. Weed , the album, was originally released in 1971 and had been described by the British press at a mix of Guru Guru and The Status Quo. Of more interest to collectors alike, Weed features Uriah Heep keyboardist Ken Hensley on vocals, keyboards and guitars. Weed is remastered and lavishly packaged in digipak format with all original artwork and new liner notes.

Ken Hensley at his best
Kick ass if it was Uriah heep it would probably be one of their better albums

Uriah Heep Type Music
The other guy is wrong! This Ken Hensley disguised solo project wasn't the first...he led The Gods, Toe Fat, and Head Machine before he was the front man for Weed. This is good stuff that would have became either gold or platinum if released by Uriah Heep. Buy it!

Ken Hensley - made in Deutschland
This is one of early side-projects of Ken Hensley - a well-accomplished album recorded with short-lived (1970-1971) band of seasoned German rockers: Reinhold Spiegelfeld (bass), Bernd Hohmann (flute, vocals), Werner Monka (guitar), Rainer Schnelle (keyboards), Peter Becker (drums). If I am not wrong, the band had rich performing experience as "Virus".Forget the editorial - it's not Uriah Heep (yet), but it has nothing to do with Status Quo.German prog- and hard-rockers shouldn't be underestimated either (to get an idea, try Time Ride )...Hensley had already been involved in an obscure side-project - when still with "Gods", he appeared on Orgasm next to his bandmate Lee Kerslake (we're talking 1969/1970) - perhaps also not Uriah Heep yet, but one can hear already the sounds of thunder."Toe Fat" - Two followed (he is on the first album only). With Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf Ken Hensley reached his peak as solo artist, to my most humble opinion it remains his most powerful solo album.Much later Hensley appears also on Siogo By the way, I would strongly recommend to get "Weed" when it's still around - it's really good

Ken Hensley in Disguise!
Let's face it: This is the first Ken Hensley solo record--well before Proud Words! It is a bit short--but this is Ken. It is pure and simple Uriah Heep Ken. So buy it.
