ABUS Immobilizer Extension Bicycle Chain

The product image shows the chain for the (old) 4850 frame lock. Note the small brass-colored shaft.What arrived was the chain for the (new) 5850 frame lock. It's shaft is longer and dark-colored.These are incompatible. Thus, I cannot use the product that arrived, since I have the older 4850 lock.Beware before you buy this product; ABUS changed the chain receptacle when they moved from the 4800series to the 5800 series locks; you need the right chain for your lock.

This is an excellent addition to the abus frame lock that is equipped with my e-bike. The combination works well with both devices and the extension chain gives a visual appearance of the bike being secured since some thieves may not be aware of the frame lock on the the bike.The ease of use is another great feature. Lock the frame lock and then just plug the chain into the frame lock opening and it is now secured. If you own a airbus frame lock this chain is a must have accessory as another layer of protection.

This is a very significant chain. It should keep your bike safe with all the usual caveats. It is heavy and if weight is a concern this may not be the product for you. It only attaches to the abus locks what are mounted on the rear wheel. Do your homework and make sure that you have the proper lock that this fits in to.

Used with a mounted 4960 this is great to lock your bike up

In my community (Denver) this is a great lock for running around town. It works great with my Riese-Mueller E-Bike (I could write a great review on the bike!). I would not use it for overnight locking.

Extends the functionality of the ABUS Pro Tectic 4960 Frame lock to allow you to "tether" your bike to a rack.The chain is long enough actually (on my commuter bike) to loop through the front wheel, then go around a bike rack, and still reach the frame lock.

As this has to plug into the rear tire, it's difficult to lock bike's front tire up to a front tire parking bike spot. Otherwise, it's a great chain.

This thing is pretty stout, just too overpriced for a chain.

Bike stolen today from front of suburban cafe after chain cut with bolt cutters. This chain is fine if you’re intending to keep your bike in sight. It will deter an opportunistic thief. However if your bike is out of eye sight or you need to leave it unattended for any length of time a thief coming equipped will be off with your bike in seconds. Whilst heavier and less flexible I’d recommend the ABUS Granit D Lock which I use on my motorcycle and now my next bike.....

The chain accessory for the 4960 frame lock is fine, and as expected. It also arrived almost before I ordered it (less than 24 hours) ... but did NOT come with ST 2012 chain bag which was included in the product description. I can get it into my saddle bag, just about, but not much else besides.

No need to present you Abus its synonym of quality, strong and security. Nice chain to secure your bike and very strong.

Ich wollte mir eigentlich schnell ein gutes Fahrradschloss kaufen und hab mir diese Kette gekauft, war dann doch sehr verwundert, dass "nur" die Kette dabei ist. Erst bei sehr genauem Lesen der Produktbeschreibung und Rezensionen sah ich, dass die Kette scheinbar nur das Add On zum Gehäuse ist, das man für 40 Euro extra kaufen muss. Sehr ärgerlich das ganze, Va weil es in der Kurzbeschreibung und im Titel überhaupt nicht gekennezeichnet ist.Da doch zu Teilen auch mein Fehler, ziehe ich "nur" 2 Sterne ab.Qualität ist gut, ob 30 Eur für eine gute Zusatzkette angemessen sind, muss eh jeder für sich entscheiden.

..., ganz einfach weil so viele De...ppen noch unterwegs sind.Leute, echt jetzt !, Denken ist weder schmerzhaft noch verursacht das Krebs oder andere Krankheiten.OK, die Kette allein ist wirklich überteuert, aber wer kauft das Rahmenschloß schon allein ?, selber schuld.Jaja, ich auch ;-), ich habe für unterwegs das zusätzliche Stahlseil genommen, diese Kette ist nur mit dem Mauerwerk meines Wohnhauses verankert.Ist pure Bequemlichkeit. Statt jedes Mal das Seil abzuwickeln brauch ich nun bloß noch das Ende greifen und ins Schloß stecken bzw. rausziehen und baumeln lassen bis zum nächsten Gebrauch.Einzig, der Stift für's Schloß muß öfter mal gefettet werden gegen Rost.Also meine Erwartungen wurden somit voll erfüllt, auch habe ich mir vorher schon das Schloß rausgesucht, mit dem ich mehrere Möglichkeiten habe und das nicht ganz so leicht zu knacken sein soll - hofft man ja immer ...
