Frannie Darling found Love :)
Read from April 19 to 21, 2013Read/Listened for Fun (Paperback/Kindle/Audio)Overall Rating: 4.00Story Rating: 3.75Character Rating: 4.25Audio Rating: 4.25 (not part of the overall rating)First thought after finishing: Frannie Darling deserved love and I am so glad she finally found it!Story Thoughts: I knew that Frannie's story would be a tough read. Her back story is heartbreaking and her plight for the orphaned children is heart-string pulling. I adored her part of the story and was really happy when she found love. It took a bit for to get into the romance between Frannie and Sterling but that all clicked about half way through the story. This was another fantastic addition to this series.Character Thoughts:Frannie was the "scoundrel" that I was most looking forward too! She is a fantastic leading lady and has a wonderful heart. Her back story is heartbreaking but she over came it all. Sterling took a bit too like. Seriously, his attitude and I did not quite mesh. Though as Frannie fell in love so did I! I love when characters make me love them even though I am opposedAudio Thoughts: Narrated By Susan Ericksen /Length: 8 hrs and 51 minsI wasn't sure if I would like switching over to one narrator but Susan did a fantastic job. She was FRANNIE! I don't think anyone else would be as good at getting her emotion and cadence. It just worked!Final Thoughts: I need to get the last in this series soon!

4 stars
Lorraine Heath is one of my top 3 HR writers. Her books have always received 4-5 stars (more 5s). I can only remember 3 disappointments. This was another winner. Everything I love in an HR. Love her romances. I did take off one star because the book became slow in the middle but that's just a minor criticism.

Remarkable series!
This is the third book in The Scoundrels of St. James series and I keep wondering how each one of these books can live up to the last. While this one didn't grab me as much as the first two, it was still wonderful in so many ways. I am in love with Feagan's kids...every single one of them. I was eager to read Frannie's story as I felt she deserved love and happiness as much if not more than the others. At first I was not too happy to learn that she had feelings for Sterling. I didn't much care for him in the previous book. But I have to say as I got to know him more and more my feelings changed. Frannie and Sterling's relationship becomes deep and powerful. The story is beautifully written by Heath and by the end I have to say I shed a few tears. I am eager to continue with this amazing series!

Liked it enough to want to read more in this series
This book has a very satisfying ending that made me smile for the last few chapters. I've already read Once More, My Darling Rogue (Scandalous Gentlemen of St. James Book 2) so it's great to get Drake/Peter's backstory in this book. Frannie's goodness and work with the orphans is inspiring, her feelings for Feagan are complex and her relationship with Sterling is very romantic. I really liked her character. Sterling is not as well developed and I had trouble getting a good sense of his character, but his feelings for and interactions with Frannie make up for it. I liked this book enough to possibly read it again - I enjoy feel-good-stories - and would like to read the other books in this series.

Emotional, involving, romantic. It works
I really enjoyed this book and kick myself for not discovering Lorraine Heath sooner. The time and place of the story felt real to me. The characters were well drawn and likable. The heroine was, perhaps a little TOO likable, but I admire the choices Heath made in her depictions. Given the setting and circumstances, this could have been a very dark tale. While I occassionally like darkenss in my romances, I was glad that Heath chose to direct her characters and readers to the light.Particularly effective was how Health handled the hero's unusual(for a romance novel)problem, intergrated it with the story and showed the reader how it impacted him and his life choices. Admirably, the writer did not take the easy was out. The problem did manifest itself in the epilogue, but Heath showed the reader that all was not lost. Happily ever after thrived, even in the face of what many would consder a tradegy.Well done. Ms. Heath, you have just got yourself a new fan.

Dickens and a Darling Heroine
I've been devouring this whole series, but I really really loved Franny's story in particular! Yes, I know that this story relies on characters with very modern attitudes, but I can suspend my disbelief just a touch for a good romance. I love that Franny doesn't find out that she's the long lost daughter of French aristocrats or an heiress in hiding (although I do kinda wish we'd learned more about her mother.) I love that she has a really full, fulfilling life before and after meeting Sterling, and that she's old enough, smart enough, and financially secure enough to take control of her own life. I love that she doesn't allow the pain she suffered as a child to define her or make her bitter or afraid. I love that the hero, who has his flaws, becomes a better person through his relationship with her and that his problems don't just miraculously go away or become insignificant. And if there wasn't enough to love-- I absolutely love the Dickens references. I know that some readers find them distracting and cutesy, but I thought they made this book-- and all the books in this series-- just a little bit more fun for all of us Dickens devotees out there. Definitely recommend this one!

Interesting reworking of Dickens
It's a brave author who uses characters from Oliver Twist to people her story but I think it works- it's not implausible that Dickens researched the robberies of London and used real characters in his stories. I love this series and have enjoyed seeing the characters fall deeply in love with those who on first blush don't seem right for them. I had a little weep at the end . Just brilliant.

3 down 1 to go
Frannie and Sterling's tale is the one I've been itching to read. I love it and I can't wait to read James' story next.

Very good
I loved the relationship between Frannie and the lads and the book was well written but the epilogue had me in tears.

Believable love story
Sterling and Frannie are great characters, who fall in love. Especially I like the way, how the fate of Frannie's brothers are involved in this story.

Achtung, Suchtfaktor!
Ganz, ganz schlimm - liest man einen, will man alle lesen, und alles andere bleibt dann eben liegen... So schöne, romantische, kitschige und lustige Auszeiten hat man selten!
