Use it every night
Bought Sept 2021, reviewed May 2022 I did a lot of research before buying this as I wanted something I could travel with, (so USB charged) and also a specific sound of white noise that I had found on an app and played through my phone. I saw a useful You Tube review by an independent reviewer and he very helpfully played the sounds of each product, so I knew that this would replicate that exactly, whereas many of the others didn’t. It also has a good choice of white noise sounds, which are more what I require, as opposed to sounds of water/nature or melodies. It's incredibly compact and feels nicely weighty and well made. It is the perfect size to chuck in a travel bag and takes up next to no room on a bedside desk. Just about the only thing that could be improved is the buttons which are small and I find I can't usually operate without turning the light on. This could of course be because of my sausage fingers! That said, other than sliding the on/off switch at night and again in the morning, I tend to leave the volume and sound settings the same, so it's not really an issue. The sound it chucks out is amazing for its size and the directional speaker does make a difference - I always use it with this deployed. The first few weeks I had it I wasn't at home and didn't have access to a suitably close power supply, so I ran it off the battery and charged it during the day. I found it went 3 - 4 nights on a full charge. I like it quite loud, so maybe that uses more power than a quieter volume? Once I was back home I plugged in the USB cable and have it attached to that and the power source all the time and it sits by my bed. There's a small green light on the back, but it has never disturbed me and it could be covered with a tiny bit of tape if it was an issue. I recall reading reviews where people said the USB connection port was prone to failure, so I decided to leave the cable in to reduce wear and tear. I've not had any issues. In terms of effectiveness I find that it really helps me sleep and stay asleep. I live in 5th floor flat in a busy area, with a main road junction and the associated police/fire/ambulance noise that always accompanies their approach to it, day or night. There are rail lines and frequent aircraft noise from the landing and take-off patterns at LHR and LCY. I also have a selection of neighbours who don't always appreciate that night time is not the right time for loud noise and their gardens host the nocturnal gatherings of foxes. Anyone who knows what foxes sound like at night knows that it isn't soothing. There’s a primary school a couple of streets away and when the kids are out at breaktime the noise feels like they’re in the house with me. On top of that there is a public car park very close, so associated noise with that and the Police helicopters fly past at low altitude multiple times day and night, en route to from their base. All in all a challenging environment. Add to that that I really like my bedroom window open most of the year to provide fresh air and that I regularly have strange working hours which require sleeping at all times of day and night. So this thing has its work cut out. It doesn't blot out everything, obviously, but I find that I have a quite high tolerance for noise, so having it on quite loud does do a remarkably good job as it is a consistent sound, rather than all the random sounds of the outside. I woke up one morning recently and on turning it off heard a conversation going on below my open window, which was accompanied by a car engine running and the sounds of the car radio - none of which I had been able to hear with the white noise on. I know it would probably have woken my up pre-alarm had I not been using the Lectrofan. The door buzzer to my block is pretty loud in the flat and always used to wake me up. I unfortunately missed a delivery recently as this thing blotted out enough of the jarring ‘beep beep’ that I slept through a courier who arrived only three hours after I’d hit the sack. Coupled with blackout curtains, the Lectrofan makes me fall asleep much easier than I would without that buffer layer of white noise to smooth out the rough edges of the noise outside. It is very rare that I wake up in the middle of the night now for anything other than the call of nature!

Powerful beast
Hunting for an airless fan for my ASD child who likes fan noise even in winter. This thing is tiny but mighty — loads of fan sounds and super portable. Only downside: the charge gives up sooner than I do

Really works!
I have used this at home for 3 weeks now and have to say it really works. I have always found it very hard to get off to sleep and then to not wake up with every noise during the night. I was very dubious about the idea of white noise and had tried it on my phone with limited success. I bought the travel one because it was cheaper and I didn't really believe it would work. But it does and I love how small and handy it is. Do I always get a great night? No. But every night has been decent which is unheard of in my 60 plus years of trying to sleep. I use the waves sound to help if I can't get off to sleep and it does also help keep me asleep. The white noise is good on nights when there is a lot of noise.

Brilliant 2 in 1 gadget
I really like this product. Before I was carting about a noise machine and a Bluetooth speaker and now I just need this. Now admittedly the speaker isn’t the same quality as the larger Bluetooth speaker, but it’s perfectly adequate for a hotel room. The sounds that are generated are good quality, the wave sounds are good but not perfect, sometimes they have a weird moment. But, for the convenience and size of the device I’m very happy. EDIT: having lived with this for a while, it has dropped a star. The noise it makes when you're connecting to bluetooth is so incredibly loud and shrill as to wake up anyone who is already snoozing. I have no idea why they went for this.

Deep sounds, portable, directional, loud!
Impressed with this - always skeptical of small, "loud" speakers particularly with built in audio signals. Very roomy sound with depth at volume, no weird resonance from vibration etc, being able to use it omnidirectional (facing up) and directional (tilted towards) is a great feature. Good range of sounds, maybe a little lacking but covers the bases - spectrum noise, wind & waves, some fans etc. it doubles up as a Bluetooth speaker so you can play your own noise too. We use this most nights, and sometimes during the day to quieten the house. It's becoming essential in this noisy, stress filled existence.

Volume so low that's it's pointless.
I'm a huge fan of lectrofan white noises and have bought 3 of them over the years. In general nothing else compares to lectrofan so I thought this portable rechargeable one would be great now that camping season is near... and I thought I would treat myself to a new one as we have used another brand for camping paired with a power bank. However I was so disappointed. This is just so quiet on max volume that it does absolutely nothing to drown out the sound. My old cheap one I would use is about 4 or 5 times as loud on maximum volume. Higher than I ever use. With this mini, I could hear someone gently coughing that was about 40 feet from the tent. This brand is wonderful but they have fallen short with this. On the surface of it, it's a great product but with such low volume its essentially just useless for anything other than to perhaps soothe a baby in an already quiet home. It's a real shame.

I've been a dedicated fan sleeper since college. I need consistent background noise to fall asleep. On a recent camping trip, I heard the soothing hum of a fan from a friend's setup and had to know what it was. Turns out it was a LectroFan! As soon as I got home, I ordered two. What I love most about this model is its portability and battery capability: plug it in normally, but it keeps running on its rechargeable battery if the power goes out m. It offers plenty of sound options—enough variety that I quickly found the perfect one for me. The precise volume control lets me dial it in to exactly the right level, no more too loud or too quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by how compact it is. It takes up very little space in my suitcase, making it ideal for trips—though it's so small that sometimes it's tricky to spot among my packed clothes! If you're a fan sleeper who travels frequently or wants to upgrade from an old, bulky unit, I highly recommend the LectroFan. It's reliable, versatile, and has become an essential part of my sleep routine.

As a devotee of the original Lectrofan, I was skeptical that this tiny puck would have the same oomph. If anything, it’s better than the original for several reasons. It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s pretty close. PROS: 1. Rechargeable, cordless for travel. Still works while plugged in, which I usually do at home. 2. Acts as a Bluetooth speaker. Easy to connect to your device. 3. Absolutely tiny, easy to pack. It’s about the size of a chicken egg. (I bought the recommended travel case and it’s great for packing along the charging cable, which you’ll need - see #2 below) 4. Decent sound. It’s not a replacement for a Bose system or anything, but for its size, it can fill a room with white noise or music/podcasts from your phone. 5. Has more than just 2 white noise sounds programmed onboard. I’ve got one basic favorite, but it’s nice to change it up every now and then. 6. The speaker is directional! Just gently twist the black part on top like you’re opening a jar, and it becomes a mini parabolic speaker. Helpful if you want to direct it at a door to drown out sounds inside a room, or just prefer the more direct sound. [I put my original Lectrofan in our guest room on a bookshelf next to the bed, and the shelf above changes the sound. With the directional speaker, the Mini stays true.) CONS: 1. When it’s plugged in, it’s got a tiny LED that glows red until it’s fully charged and then it turns green. The green is so bright that I will often find myself waking up and unplugging it in the night. Easily fixed by unplugging it, or slapping a tiny piece of electrical tape over the LED. 2. It’s only got about 40 hours of battery life, so you’ll have to be sure to charge it every 3-4 days depending on your habits. Luckily the charging cable is an easy one to replace if necessary, but not something you want to be without on day 4 of a trip. 3. So tiny you might lose it. Invest the $10 in a case, so at least you can find it in your luggage. OVERALL: Tiny powerhouse of a white noise machine & Bluetooth speaker. Small enough to take backpacking across Europe, but mighty enough to use as your primary sounds machine at home. I don’t have kids, but I can imagine how handy it would be for parents with a baby used to sleeping with white noise - great for long trips, car rides, play dates or family/friend visits with nap time, etc. Small enough to fit in a diaper bag, too. Highly recommended.
