The John Frieda In-Shower Volume Treatment works well. I have long, fine, straight hair that is thinning on top. I was looking for something that would help to add volume without greasiness because my hair falls out more when I wash it, so I like to go about 5 days between washes. This product is nice because you don't even have to use it each time you wash your hair. I use it maybe once every two weeks. I have been using John Frieda volumizing hair spray for years and found this product a few months ago. My hair is never super shiny (even when I have no product on it), so that isn't a factor for me to consider. The products I've tried that claim to make hair shiny just weigh my hair down without adding much shine, so I've given up on having shiny hair. But I don't want flat hair! I agree with one review I read that this product somehow seems to add more "texture" to the hair. My hair tends to lie super flat because it is so fine. This product makes the hair strands seems fuller, more texturized. I've used it by itself, with mousse, with John Frieda Root Booster, with blow drying, without blow drying. It's most effective with the Root Booster and blow drying, but it still helps even on its own. (Root Booster only seems to work with blow drying.) It doesn't give super lift--I think that's more in the styling process; I'm not the best at styling--but it definitely helps my flat mop to not look like it's stuck to my head! :) My mom has also started using it and likes it. I'm going to stock up because the price is reduced right now and I don't want to run out--although I think one bottle will last a long time. Since my hair is so fine, I don't completely coat my whole head. I spread a little over my hands and then work it into my hair in sections. I over-applied once and found that that weighed my hair down. A little goes a long way and gives good results.

I am 50 and I was getting to the point where I was going to cut it all of... Then I found John Frieda! Best thing that ever happened to me. I never thought I would have thick, glossy hair - people stop me all the time and compliment me on it.

No two ways about it - this stuff is fairly expensive, especially if you're used to using cheap $0.99 bottles of shampoo. However, I got a sample of this and had to try it. I have long, very fine hair that's thinned out because of illness. I don't want to cut off my hair, so making it look fuller was of primary importance. So, I tried the sample.It was magnificent! My hair hadn't looked that good in twenty years! I could wear my hair down, without doing anything special to make it look fuller. My favorite husband loved it, and I felt pretty darned gorgeous that day. I decided that I needed to buy this stuff, and searched local places high and low. Either they weren't carrying this product, or it was all gone. Family members came home with the shampoo or matching conditioner, but not this in-shower treatment. Finally, I saw it here and bought some immediately!It's as good as the sample. It lasts several days (not a week, but close to it), and gives me gorgeous, full hair that looks like mine looked years ago. I certainly cannot guarantee that this will work as well for you, but it has worked miracles for my mother too, as well as other fine haired friends. (If you are one of those women blessed with hair that needs thinning at the hairdresser, leave this on the shelf. Thin haired women like me NEED this!)Lastly, a little goes a long way with this stuff. I have hair nearly to my waist and I use a tablespoon or so of product. That's really good for very long hair. Hope you give this a try and have the miraculous fullness I got. I'll never have a hairdresser ask me how I can stand the weight of all my hair, but it looks nice enough to gain complements, even when I wear my hair down.

I have been using this for 2 years now and it has helped with thickening my hair and does not break as easily. it's worth it! provides great volume. love it.

I have used this treatment 3 times now and maybe needs more time to show better results, I apply it after the shampoo, leave it on 5 to 7 minutes and rinse, towel dry my hair and then I add a volume filler (Elvive Densifying Gelee by Loreal) and then I blow dry it, I see volume, but it takes 2 products. I’m still want to use it, I like the way my hair feels, is not sticky or greasy, It feels clean and manageable.
