'A Single Man' stars Colin Firth as a teacher grieving over the death of his partner and planning suicide to end his pain. Set in 1962 and directed by fashion designer Tom Ford the film has captured a host of awards including a Golden Globe nomination for best soundtrack. Abel Korzeniowski's elegiac, string-lead score complements the film beautifully and is supplemented by additional music from Shigeru Umebayashi plus a fine selection of source music ranging from opera to Booker T & The MG's.

About the Artist
Polish born Korzeniowski's credits include a new score for silent classic 'Metropolis', 'PU-239', 'Battle For Terra' and 'Copernicus Star'. Shigeru Umebayashi has been scoring Japanese and Chinese films for over 25 years and his CV includes 'In The Mood For Love' and 'House Of Flying Daggers'.

Wonderful
Recently saw this film for the second time & needed the beautiful music for my collection.

The Perfect Soundtrack.
Suddenly I no longer conjure up the film each time I listen to this great soundtrack. It is a stand alone beauty-scape of both reflection and joy. It's the perfect classical album peppered with just the right amount of 'modern' songs. Listen anytime or perfect for dinner parties.

El sentimiento hecho música
Un Hombre Soltero, me pareció en su día una película tristísima, con grandes interpretaciones y planos visuales. Tom Ford, su director, y generalmente, diseñador de moda, había hecho un movimiento arriesgado, que tenía cierto atractivo, para los que gusten de los dramas, dejando caer el peso de su obra, en un brillante Colin Firth, secundado por Julianne Moore.Pero la verdad, la película no me hubiera llamado la atención como lo hizo, si no hubiera sido por esta banda sonora. Es ahí, en ese juego musical en el que sólo se puede sentir, y no se puede explicar, donde, junto a la interpretación de Colin, reside el alma de esta obra.Una gran banda sonora, una preciosidad, que nos va moviendo dentro del mundo del protagonista.Imprescindible.

Sin ningún género de duda, esta es una de las mejores bandas sonoras que he escuchado en los últimos tiempos.Llena de tensión y belleza. Equilibrada y bien construida.Otro excelente trabajo de Abel Korzeniowski que, si no se tuerce, se está convirtiendo en uno de los mejores compositores actuales de bandas sonoras.

Toda la musica que compone este autor es bonita y profunda. Uno de los mejores del momento. Lo demuestra nuevamente con esta banda sonora. Contiene tambien un aria de Maria Callas y varias canciones mas.

Ich bin eigentlich nicht der Typ der, wenn er einen Film gesehen hat sofort den Soundtrack haben muss... das war bei dem Film völlig anders.Die Musik zu "A Single Man" ist einfach nur Wunderschön, ergreifend,melankolisch.Ein unbedingtes muss, nicht nur für diejenigen die den Film gesehen haben, der auf jeden Fall auch 5 Sterne von mir bekommt.

wunderschöne, bewegende, ergreifende musik! nicht einfach nur klassik, sondern besondere musik mit besonderen elementen.kann man schlecht beschreiben, muss man hören. ist natürlich geschmackssache, aber ich würde die cd immer wieder kaufen und verschenken und sowieso sehr oft anhören.

QUAND LA MUSIQUE COLLE À L'IMAGE...
La bande-son de ce film traduit parfaitement l'atmosphère d'une époque ainsi que le drame intime vécu par le protagoniste. Abel Korzeniovski a su rendre les différentes séquences du scénario plus crédibles et créer l'empathie. Laissons-nous envelopper par la tristesse et la profonde mélancolie de l'histoire ! Ce compositeur a du génie !!!
