Still the gold standard, but watch out for the recipe "tinkering."
I’ve been buying this 12-pack for over a year now. It’s the ultimate safe bet for packed lunches or a quick desk snack. Recently, Walkers updated the packaging (the new "sun-inspired" logo looks quite smart), but there are a few things to note if you’re a long-time fan. The Good: Classic Crunch: They haven’t messed with the texture. It’s still that thin, high-shatter crunch that feels much lighter than kettle-cooked brands. Perfect Portioning: The 25g bags are exactly what you need to keep a snack under 135 calories without accidentally eating a "family size" bag in one sitting. Classic Flavor: In a world of "Masala Chicken" and "Teriyaki" (their new 2026 flavors), it’s nice to have a crisp that just tastes like potato and salt. It’s the only flavor that truly belongs in a cheese sandwich. The "New" for 2026: The Logo Change: The bags look different now with Henry Walker's signature on them. It feels a bit more "premium," but the price has stayed relatively stable at around £3.00 - £3.25 for the 12-pack. The Salt Factor: You might notice these taste a tiny bit "milder" than they used to. Walkers has been lowering the salt content to meet health guidelines. It's better for the blood pressure, but if you’re a "salt-fiend," you might find them a bit subtle. Ingredients: Purists should note they now use tocopherol-rich extract (an antioxidant) to keep them fresh. I don't notice the taste difference, but some "clean eaters" might. Pros & Cons Pros: Great value (approx. 26p/bag), no artificial colors, suitable for vegetarians. Cons: The bags are still 50% air (the "Walkers special"), and they can get crushed easily so be careful! Verdict: Despite the recipe tweaks, these are still the best-tasting plain crisps on the market. Great for kids and nostalgic adults alike. Just make sure to not bury them under boxes or they shall be crushed!
