Master Lock 911DPF Heavy Duty Outdoor Padlock with Key, 1 Pack

Recieved the padlock yesterday. Heavy and well made. My previous padlock was a simple Master Lock, that would completely freeze in cold weather, I mean completely. From what I can see, this new padlock is a monster. It's now December in the Midwest, horribly cold and too much snow. I just wanted to provide an update. The lock hasn't disappointed, it's really a beast, no freezing at all, opens like it's July!!!!

I bought this lock to install on a shed in the backyard and wanted protection from the elements so the locking mechanism doesn't seize up. I've had this lock for a couple of months now and it still performs as expected with smooth opening and no issues at all. I'll update this review if anything changes but so far, it's a great lock.

This is a really nice quality lock

I only gave this masterlock 4 stars because I just received two of them today. I just wanted to post my thoughts about the quality of construction. I'll update this post after our upcoming snowstorm. Each lock comes with 2 brass keys. The key mechanism is smooth with the keys sliding into each lock with precision. The rubber flap that slides over the key entry is snug and snaps into place preventing water, dust or debris from entering the keyhole. This will prevent the locking mechanism from freezing, which was important to me. With dual ball locking (a steel ball on each outside edge of the shackle when locked), prying the shackle open is much more difficult because the balls rotate in place. There is no way to displace them. The shackle is a 5/16" hardened boron alloy which adds a level of hardness making cutting through it more difficult, than if it was stainless or just hardened steel. This was really important to me because I'm using the locks to secure a container on my property and I can't see it from my house. Lastly, I like the yellow plastic exterior. It tells people from a distance that the container is locked. That, in and of itself, will deter some people who have larceny in mind. It also protects the interior from water and debris intrusion. Overall, for the cost, I'm impressed with the build quality, weather resistant and theft resistant features of this Heavy Duty Master Lock. I could have spent a lot more on other locks, but no one promises 100% waterproof, pic-proof and hammer-proof. For me, I believe this Master Lock will get the job done.

From a security perspective - this is a solid lock. Cannot easily be shimmed. Sturdy base that will last a long time. Weatherproof casing also servers to preserve it better and the lock cover keeps moisture out. From a lockpicker perspective. Great challenge lock for a new lockpicker. Once you get down the trick, it's pretty easy, but the lock is fun to pick, dismantle and add your own security pins if you're up for a new challenge.

We bought this for our side yard fence gate. It fits almost perfectly, its sturdy, and the weatherproof cap on the lock is doing.its.job for sure. We've been through some heavy rains the last week and it stays nice and dry. It unlocks smoothly, re-locks easily without having to turn the key (which is a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless for me).

I've been through countless locks that have always froze up on me. -20 F wind, freezing rain, etc. This one so far has been the most robust and 'weather tight'. Hasn't failed me yet.

This lock is a replacement for the same model that was used outside for about 20 years, afterwards the yellow outside shell got cracked, and slid off, and I was reluctant to keep using the lock outside. So I ordered another, and duct taped the shell back around the old lock; lock still works fine, I'll find somewhere to use it.

Just received the padlock today, this lock come from Amazon US, far as I know it not stocked by many UK hardware stores. The lock is a laminated typed with a boron alloy shackle and covered in a yellow and black plastic. I believe it has 5 pins, which 4 are spools and 1 serrated, and comes with the 2 keys as standard. As you may notice in the photos, this was purchase for the purpose of lockpicking and not for securing anything, which I am happy to give 5 stars.

Calidad y robusto

Good sturdy lock. Kept my Kayak locked on top of the truck all summer without any problems. Still works as good as new.
