Scratching My Head on This
I ordered this to replace the fan system in my Davis Vantage Pro II. Although not all the parts fit, I was able to use the solar panel, and fan unit to replace the worn out units in my old system. I just did not need everything that came in this particular package. If I order replacement parts again, I will only order the fan and solar charging unit. Otherwise, the system works correctly. I just bought more than I needed.

Easy-to-install way to improve daytime temperature accuracy
The daytime fan aspiration shield is great for ensuring that your sunlit Davis weather sensor suite gets an accurate temperature. Yes, the fan only runs in the daytime, and only when there's a lot of sunlight, but that's exactly when it's crucial that the sensor get airflow to prevent heat buildup from affecting the readings. The assembly was straightforward, and required no extra tools beyond what you'd need to put up the weather station in the first place.

Very expensive and hard to assemble
This addition to the Davis Vantage Pro2 is a good idea, but very expensive and hard to assemble. Davis makes a great weather station and I have two of them, but any accessories that you purchase after are very expensive and tricky to assemble. I would suggest spending the extra money and purchasing all the accessories initially. I returned mine because it wasn't worth the price and time to assemble it.

Great addition to your weather station
The fan unit makes temperature readings more accurate. There are lots of parts, so take your time. You will be rewarded with very stable temperature measurements.Yes, it is a bit expensive, but this is Davis Instruments. Their stuff will last forever.

Solar Shield
My only complaint is I wish I had purchased the Vantage 2 station with all the goodies already attached since I seem to be buying them one at a time. But this is probably the most important addition to my station, at least here in Arizona. Everything on this station is solar powered (with battery backup) so the sensors have to be placed in direct sunlight. Here in Arizona that can be a major problem since it can get to 110 degrees (or higher) in the summer. This shielding is helping already and the temps are only in the 70's. My advice, make sure you either buy the station that already has this installed or if you already have the Vantage Pro2 without this, get it. It makes a BIG difference in your accuracy.

Nice add-on
It wasn't a necessity, but it DID make a difference in my station accuracy. It is NOT an easy install, but not impossible for the average person. Exercise some patience tho. READ the directions !! There are some very specific things that have to be adhered to for it to be properly mounted.

Good add on kit
Good add on to your Davis weather station. Can be a little confusing as to how the stack is put back together. They do have a couple pictures but a couple more or numbered diagram would be more helpful but if you don't have the 24/7 aspirated this is a good add on.

Great addition to the Pro 2 - Continues in the quality of the Davis Product Line
Top quality addition for my Pro 2 birthday gift. I was disappointed and a bit frustrated in there being 2 different configurations one had to choose from BEFORE starting, but as a typical man, WHY RTFM? The instructions are pretty straight forward but pay attention or you will end up grayer or balder, possibly both.
