Size:2 Pack Galapagos Natural Spider Wood Root is a unique feature for aquariums and terrariums! It sinks in water after 10 days anchored with weights and helps create the perfect 'mangrove' aqua scape. It can be used as a substrate for growing aquatic mosses and plants. In terrariums, Spider Wood adds a multi-dimensional feature that supports tropical and arid landscapes. It creates perfect branches for Spanish or green sphagnum mosses and very interesting perches for birds or basking reptiles.

Beautiful spider wood at a very good price.
Very nice spider wood, at a much lower price than the LFS. I soaked it for a day, and I didn’t have to weigh it down to make it sink in the aquarium. Like any wood that’s been boiled, it may develop a hideously disgusting, yet completely harmless, layer of whitish bacterial slime. This is normal, will not hurt shrimp, fish, or plants, and will go away all by itself within a week or two. Do not scrub it off! If you disturb/abrade the surface of the wood, your slime process will start all over again. Just leave it alone! Highly recommend this wood and this seller! The first two photos show the newly set up tank, and the third and fourth photos were taken two months later. As you see, this wood naturally darkens over time from its initial blonde color to a rich, dark auburn. The shrimp and catfish love this wood. I would use this seller again. :)

Released toxins and caused to kill discus fishes!
The product is good in shape and fitted my discus aquarium just fine. I put this item in my tank after washing it completely with cold water in the tub. After a short while the wood started releasing some tannings. I know the fact that it is normal for driftwoods/spider woods to turn the aquarium water yellowish-brown color and I am aware of that. Even the wood might be covered with white fungus which is harmless for the fishes. However the next morning, 6 hours later, my fishes got covered some soft of slime/fungus. And they started breathing heavily, then started tilting on their sides. I went through Melafix, Pimafix, Super Ick Cure and Aquarium salt treatment. Non of them worked. I decided to remove the wood immediately but fishes were getting worse. Then I placed my fishes into the other tank I had and continue the treatment. But they did not make it. I am super upset loosing 3 of my precious Red Melon Discus fishes over one night after placing this wood into my aquarium. In the description it says "Galapagos Natural Spider Wood Root is a unique feature for aquariums and terrariums! It helps create the perfect 'mangrove' aqua scape" But they forgot to mention that this wood might be toxic and would potentially kill your fishes! Please be aware of purchasing this item and do NOT place it directly in your aquarium. Let the water cure the wood in different tank with NO live fish in it with an air-stone and a air pump at least over a month before you introduce this wood to your aquarium.

Perfect for my tank
Buying driftwood sight unseen is always a gamble, so I was so happy when I received a piece that so perfectly suited my setup. It's a bit of a long and lanky piece, but it fills up my entire 40 gallon, without taking up too much space, if that makes sense. Aesthetically, I couldn't be more pleased.I soaked it for about two weeks before I could get it to sink at all, and I wanted to make sure that anything naughty in it would be at least partially leached out before adding it to my aquarium. I did a fishless cycle then, and had a well-established ecosystem long before I added any stock. I never got any discoloration in my water, and didn't pick up any weird chemical traces from the spider wood. But I really struggled getting it to sink, and in the end I used some of the rocks of my hardscaping, to anchor it down somewhat. I think it still might float if I took the rocks up. This in my case is not an issue.

$24 FOR THIS!!!
Most definitely the best option for buying spider wood on amazon. I paid $18 for another company's spider wood and the piece i got was 1/4 of the size of the one of got from this company. This is definitely worth the risk of the random shape you get because you can just return it if you're not happy with it. The tank is a 29 Gallon and the piece fills out AT LEAST half of the tank.

Nice size piece of wood
it's a really nice size one, however, I always air on the side of caution when ordering things so when it arrived today I opened it outside Thank goodness a roach coming running out... it is wood and it is what it is but at least it won't cost me an additional 100 bucks to get the pest control guy out =D I definitely recommend the wood just a warning to open it outside

Good sized piece for the price
The piece I received isn’t as fine of structure as customer pics I saw. It’s also not smooth looking. It’s very rough, almost frayed in spots. However I was sent a pretty good sized piece that reaches the top of my 29 gal tank. The packaging was very nice too.It only slightly wanted to float. Just shoving it into the substrate and placing a few rocks around it belt it in place. Also don’t be alarmed if it starts to grow some fuzzy stuff. It’s completely normal and harmless. In fact a lot of fish will eat it. I bought 5 Otocinclus fish and they cleaned it up overnight!

Beautiful aquarium driftwood
If you are looking at the many, many options for aquarium driftwood...STOP and BUY THIS. Stuff is amazing. Mine looks quite similar to the depicted one (perhaps even larger and definitely has a bigger base). I've not used this for reptiles so can't help there, sorry.I would caution against buying this item if (1) you have large fish, as they won't be able to weave in and out of the tangles or (2) your aquarium is not at least ten gallons because this is a fairly large piece of wood or (3) you are buying it for Panaque or either plecos that need driftwood in their diet because this is not a very "soft" driftwood. Definitely the most beautiful driftwood I've ever seen and was shocked when I saw how affordable it is. Only drawback is that it doesn't sink right away. Use a rock to weigh it down for 10 days and you should be fine.

Beautiful piece!
Very nice piece. I was worried it would be small since the size range was so wide but it’s really nice with plenty of spider-y branches for plants to grow aroundand fish to dart through in our 40 gallon tetra tank. Very happy with packaging and no broken pieces in shipment.

The first one exceeded my expectations, so I ordered another. The second was even bigger with more branches.
