Kindergartner Approved
Super cute books. My kindergartner read this aloud to me in 2 evenings. She was able to read or sound out nearly all the words needing help with only a handful which made it an enjoyable reading experience for her. On to the next book in the series!

Great series for elementary students, teaches science!
Love this series! You can buy them in packs to make a great Christmas gift (Usually I see them as 6 books for ~23.00, I think - which is a great price!!!). Reading level is 2nd grade, so if your little one is an early reader they may be able to read it in 1st grade. The stories are great for older kids, too. I enjoyed them and I love that it teaches kids science as part of the story. Also, when Zoey faces a problem or makes a mistake, she carries on and finds a solution. She's a good role model for any child. The website also has a couple of experiments and worksheets (free) for you to use if you want to really learn about the science lessons in each book.

Great book for early readers
We love Sassafras and Zoey books by Asia Citro. I've been a fan of Asia's blog for many years, and I was over joyed when she published her first Sassafras and Zoey book. All the books in the series present just the perfect touch of magic as little magical creatures come to Zoey for help, my kids can't put the books down. What I love about them, as Asia presents the scientific method and a variety of science topics into such fun little books. My kindergartner is a strong new reader, and he hasn't quite had the confidence to read this one himself, but his second-grade-brother reads these books in less than an hour. Sassafras and Zoey make great read-aloud books and can maintain interest for kids 4 years old - at least 8 years old.

Books helped me talk with my daughter about the pandemic
My kids (7, girl, and 10, boy) love the Zoey and Sassafras books. They read the books over and over. Just enough excitement to be interesting, without being too scary. They are fascinated by how she helps the animals with science. The books have helped me to talk with my younger child about the pandemic, and how the scientists are working hard to find treatments and cures, but it’s hard work and takes time.

Grumplets are cute and I love them!
Review by G., 5.5 years old: In this book, the grumplets made the animals grumpy, but I still loved them because they were so cute. The grumplets are very small and furry, and there are pictures of them in the book. The pictures are great!

Science and cute magical animals
All the Zoey and Sassafras books are a huge hit in our house. I especially like the educational angle and it helps us for science when we are writing up our experiments. Must read whilst wearing science googles!
