04 Volkswagen Passat
Installed on my ‘04 VW Passat 1.8T. Transmission would clunk when put into D or R. All gear lights would be blocked red and gas would go limp. Installed with no issue, it fixed the problem. Thank you for this part saved me $150 by not buying the $200 exact same part from Autozone. Would highly recommend for the price!!

part was an exact fit and solved my issue
My VW Passat was not sensing when it was shifted into reverse. This caused the transmission to go into limp mode. Installing this part solved the issue. I had to buy a few metric tools that I didn't own. Currently, the transmission is correctly sensing the position!

Defective. Reverse lights did not always work.
Update: Defective, reverse lights did not always work. That was a dangerous condition that luckily someone told me about. I was able to reproduce --rarely-- with the engine off, wheels chocked and shifter in R. Depending on how the shifter "landed" in R, the reverse lights would not come on. I ordered a replacement and was still able to reproduce. I bit the bullet and replaced it with Standard Motor Products NS-349 for A LOT more money.Original review is below.------I received a generic MFS sold by Surieen and shipped by Amazon. The connector contacts are silver colored and not gold colored. The pictures are misleading, they show the original OEM MFS and what I received is definitely not that so I took off a star.My previous MFS I bought in 2014 and it lasted 7 years. It was an Intermotor part and I received what was probably OEM, judging by casting, stamping and material. There is a 2021 review for the Surieen one which basically implies it is an OEM rebrand but it is not. Maybe they were shipping the ZFS one in 2021 but not now. That doesn't mean it's bad quality just understand what you are getting.(The rest of this review is specific to B5 Passat owners):I installed it in my 2003 VW Passat 1.8T without issue, though it took me a couple of hours from start to finish. If you have the same car as me my advice is take the driver's tire off so you can work from the wheel well. If you leave a ramp in place on the driver's side then the work area is extremely limited because the transmission, which must be held up by a jack, is just a foot or two away so you're basically boxed in and can't move your arms. It is difficult to do safely. I chocked the rear wheels, used a floor jack on the driver's side subframe cup/bulge looking thing, removed the driver's ramp and then lowered onto a jack stand at the pinch weld. Then I supported the transmission. Do not jack up the transmission, you just want to give it light pressure to make removing the mount easier, otherwise you could put pressure on the other mounts or lift the car off the jack stand.

Suspiciously High Quality
I'm very picky when it comes to auto parts, but $500 for the Genuine VW part was out of the question. The reviews for this seemed generally positive, so I decided to give it a shot. The part looks exactly like the (genuine) one I removed from the car and has the same casting marks, barcode, and numbers. It fits perfectly and works as expected. I suspect that this is made by the same supplier that VW/Audi uses and just sold under a no-name brand. As a former tech, I would recommend this product to anyone.

Pretty good
Works as it should most of the time but occasionally looses the neutral position but not enough to give it much care in my opinion especially for the price

Working as supposed to
I had $1200 estimate from transmission shop to put back on the road 2005 VW Passat. Bought this here sensor, paid $90 to replace it , and it worked out, transmission shifts now as it should. Saved me over $1000. Awesome product in my humble opinion.
