Tops Oxford FocusNotes Composition Book, 7-1/2" x 9-3/4", 80 Sheets, Blue (90224)

I'm a grad student who was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD (which, incidentally, explained a lot). Throughout my academic career, try as I might, I could never quite figure out a way to take notes in class that worked for me. THIS NOTEBOOK FORMAT SOLVED MY PROBLEM. Before buying a Cornell-ruled notebook, I changed my note-taking system nearly every academic since middle school, but my notes were always disorganized and I rarely found it helpful to go back and study from them. Now, for the first time, I have a system I want to reuse. My ADHD-brain appreciates that the pages come pre-ruled in the Cornell format. I know it might seem silly to pay several times the price of a reg composition notebook for lines I could draw in seconds, but with ADHD--trust me--my notes turn out much better if I don't have to add one more step to the process each time I turn the page. This format funnels my default note-taking process into a useful and manageable format without requiring me to devote a lot of mental effort during class to following a complicated outline system just to keep things organized. Now I can take notes--even chaotic ones--in the large main section, draw arrows to the wide margin to add add'l details or indicate key points as the lecture continues, and even jot down tangentially related thoughts triggered by the lecture for later consideration. The section at the bottom, kept safe and separate from the main part of my runaway-train-of-thought notes, serves as a place to write action items like assignments, deadlines, and group project deliverables. The best part about this item? I didn't have to learn a new system or force my brain to focus on an organizational skill that doesn't come naturally when I'd rather focus my full attention on the lecture. I liked this format so much that I bought the corresponding spiral-bound writing tablet, put it in a standard padfolio, and now use it for meetings at work. This only downside to this notebook (I'd give 4.5 stars if that was an option) is that the cover scuffs easily and looks pretty beat up long before I've had a chance to fill all the pages. Functionally, though, it has held up just fine. Having a refillable notebook cover would take care of any aesthetic issues, so it's hard for me to fault a useful tool on those grounds. If you're one of those people who wants your notebooks to stay looking clean & new or very professional, you'd probably want cover it in contact paper before using or buy a classy refillable cover. tl;dr If you or your child has ADHD and struggles to take notes in a useful and organized way, I'd recommend trying this line of notebooks (or any other Cornell-ruled notebook/notepad/spiral). It might be just the thing to solve a lifelong note-taking dilemma like mine. :) That said, however, I'm off to hunt for a refillable notebook cover to hide the easily-scuffed covers of this notebook.

The notebook was exactly what I thought it would be however it didn’t help me. But I do love how it’s broken out so you can prioritize and organize your notes.

The notebook is great but the cover page was not in a good shape when it got delivered.

These notebooks have an added organizational structure that can incline a person organize their notes to optimize retention. I buy them for my son who has a learning difference and an executive function issue. Translated: He sucks at being organized and no matter how hard he or I tries, it is not his natural state of being. These notebooks have helped him to be more independent in his school work, and a way to use his notes for study later. They are not magic, but we find them to be a really good support.

This system has been around a while but these composition books make it easy to use in any class. I am using these in my Engineering, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity classes. Students have had far fewer problems with organization and remembering important concepts and commands.

There are dozens of expensive journals on here, if you journal daily, this adds up quickly. I was looking for a functional alternative and this is it. The layout makes it easy to customize entries for a number of things so you don't need multiple books. Love it!

Nice book however the front part had smudges and scratches on it. Other then that product is like discribed

These are just what I've been looking for. I have a nice leather cover but had a hard time fiinding a good quality paper until now! These have different sections on the same page such as subject, date, notes and summary. I'm so glad I found these and will definitely be ordering more.

Las hojas de buena calidad y tienen un formato interesante. Lo que no me gustó es que el lomo se siente rígido, ni cierra bien ni abre bien. Sientes que se fuerza algo y de hecho ya se me desprendieron dos hojas del frente y una del final a pesar de que sólo es para notas y lo he usado muy poco. Si el formato de la hoja no te interesa demasiado, definitivamente un Mead cumple mejor la función y mucho más barato.
