Fine, smooth, broad tonality - not dull. I had NO string issues.
I have these on two long-scale basses and like them a lot. My brief experiences find them smooth as can be (after a wipe with Finger Ease), and pretty articulate in the long scale length. I recently re-read negative reviews about Ernie Ball strings where customers describe strings breaking as they're being brought up to pitch during a change, or later on, being too short to have a clean passage over the nut etc. as if Quality Control were absent.I have only my 2 experiences that showed neither of these issues.I have had other strings have a length problem, notably D'Addario Chromes on a short-scale Gretsch Junior Jet II, where, given the very small bridge, the E string yarn at the ball end went right over the E saddle. I pulled the string, slid a small, Super Glued together stack of washers over the string to get the spool "ball" end farther from the bridge. and got the yarn out of the saddle depression that way. Always good to check that the played paert of a string is clear of the saddle before beginning to tighten it to pitch. Some people will complain about their strings being "too long" but I think they are complaining about all those extra inches past where they cut the string. Yes, seems like a waste of material. I usually pull a string about 3" past a post, put a 90 degree bend in it there, cut it about 1/2" from the bend and then poke the bent end down into the tuning post's hole.

Nice smooth warm sound and comfortable play
Perfect strings for my Ltd fertless bass had replace when was delivered it had round wound strings on it which I thought was crazy one thing they damage neck surface plus cause a lot of neck buzz now it plays nice and smooth no finger pain no more loud neck buzz great for recording now will be buying more sets for other fertless basses I own I recommend these strings

Good Old Skool sound
Unlike most flats that sound like polite roundwounds when new, these sound "broken in" right out of the pack. Which is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Fat and warm sound with good consistency between strings

Really great strings.
These are so much More comfortable to play on than round rounds. And they have a spectacular full sound too. My custom bass has extremely Bright pickups which I'm sure helps

Great Quality, Pros & Cons, Not great with Rocksmith
Ok, there are pro's and con's here, and its not the strings, it's me.First off these strings have a unique feel, a smooth matte surface, and they feel very durable.I play for fun with Rocksmith, and the normal bass strings have been hurting my fingers as I don't play enough to get calluses. I looked into getting flatwould or groundwound strings to help with this issue. These strings are smooth, however, now I have new issues that I didn't expect. Instead of the sandpaper feel of normal strings, these smooth strings burn my fingers (like a carpet burn) when sliding. This is probably due to the increased surface area touching your fingers using a flat string. I also noticed that my right hand is getting very tired plucking, I never had that issue with normal strings. It seems that it takes about twice the energy to pluck flat strings, probably again due to the increased surface area on the string surface. Also the flat strings have a different sound or tone than the normal strings, which I expected, the issue is that Rocksmith doesn't pick up the low notes as well on these strings making it harder to play the game. The strings sound great through my amp, the issues I am having are particular to my noob situation, and playing Rocksmith. I am still pretty new to playing bass, and to anyone else out there playing rocksmith I recommend sticking with normal strings.

Great on a P Bass
This was my first set of flats, and I might never go back. I put them on a cheap P-Bass for recording. It’s a classic for a reason.

Great flats that work on a string through body
I put these on a Paranormal Rascal bass to give it a more vintage tone and to match the retro look. They held up well considering it's a string through bridge and flats usually don't like to bend around corners like that. Tone is great, they're a little more punchy than most so you can still get a good rock sound when needed and they're smooth as butter under my fingers. At $40 I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Didn't work for me
Why did you pick this product vs others?:So I put these strings on my Ibanaz bass guitar can't get the E string to stop rattling. I raises the action that helped but didn't stop it. The old strings didn't rattle. The only reason I bought these strings I was looking for a smoother sound to go with acoustic guitar. So I ill put old strings back on and mark this up as waste of money and time.
