As a self-taught intermediate level player, I purchased several books on scales and modalities and was having some success but the very basics were escaping me. For example, I needed a very simple explanation of the how the scale “boxes” change for each key. Sounds simple, and turns out it actually is very simple. But a half dozen books for intermediate level players contained absolutely no discussion of the very basics. I decided to take a chance on a book for “beginners” and it worked out well. Now all the intermediate level books make perfect sense. Highly recommended for beginners and intermediate players who are trying to understand the basics of scales.

Neededd something to help improve my playing

For me, it came in handy at times I mean there’s a lot of scales and it’s not a book that you’re gonna have there all the time but when it does it will sure do the job. Oh, one more thing it is hard to keep a page open while trying to play, but there are things you can use for that anyway, have fun.

This book made easy work of learning scales and patterns. I play guitar for over 40 years and never learned scales. I did not realize how much I was missing out until I use this book and learned scales.

Good book

I loved the author’s learn the fretboard book. And hoped to proceed with scales. I don’t yet play but figured I could still u destined the book. The first 5 or 6 chapters were okay like the fretboard book but chapter seven lost me. There was talk of patterns and maps and frets but no pictures to give examples of what he meant. I am utterly lost
