Essential Tool for 2013 Volkswagen Passat SEL - Reliable and Affordable
I recently acquired the BELEY Engine Timing Tools Camshaft Locking Tools Timing Tool Set for my 2013 Volkswagen Passat SEL with a 2.5L engine, and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. Although not specifically listed for my model, this tool set worked flawlessly for locking both the camshafts and the crankshaft, ensuring precise engine timing adjustments. One of the standout features of this tool set is its precision and compatibility with the 2.5L engine in my Passat SEL. The camshaft locking tool and crankshaft locking pin provided an exact fit, allowing me to confidently check and adjust the engine timing. This precision is essential when working on engine timing, and this tool set delivered without a hitch. Moreover, the affordability of this tool set is a significant advantage. Compared to OEM or other aftermarket tools of similar quality, it offers exceptional value. The included carrying case adds convenience and ensures that these vital tools are well-protected and organized, making them readily available for future use.In the interest of full transparency, I did encounter a minor issue with the camshaft locking tool's bolts. One of them broke during use. However, it's worth noting that replacing the bolt was a straightforward process, and it did not significantly impact my experience with the tool set. Overall, the BELEY Engine Timing Tools Camshaft Locking Tools Timing Tool Set proved to be a reliable and affordable choice for maintaining precise engine timing in my 2013 Volkswagen Passat SEL, and I highly recommend it to fellow automotive DIYers such as myself!

Not quite the perfect fit
These are close, but not exact. I had to grind some material away to make these fit the camshaft flats on early 2.5L 5 cylinder VW engines (which spec the same cam lock part number as some FSI engines). Once I did that, everything else fit and worked perfect.Beyond that, it managed to get the job done.

Works on 2013 vw Jetta 2.5l
Worked on my 2.5l 2013 Jetta.A bit tricky to find the crank shaft position. There’s two positions where the tool actually fits. One wil feel slightly loose( barely noticeable) and the second one feels tight and crank shaft won’t move.Best way to find the spot for the crankshaft is to plug a stick in the spark plug hole in cylinder one( numbering starts from timing chain towards accessory belts, so right to left. Looking at the engine with the good open. [ accessory belts - 5 4 3 2 1 - timing chain]) mark the stick and watch it as you rotate the crank shaft for the sign. Find the highest point for the sing on the stick that shows that cylinder one is at TDC and start looking for the spot on the crankshaft to plug the tool. I also used a camera to look in the hole for the tool and found the spot quick. You’ll see an indentation trough the hole on the crank.Lock the cams with the tool. Put the chain back. Tighten the sprockets ( I took both out, easier to handle the chain.) 60nm and then 90 degrees more towards the windshield. Also when rotating the crank if you feel that it doesn’t want to move anymore it’s probably the chain getting blocked in the vacuum pump sprocket. Just wiggle the chain around and should all be fine.Hope my review helps. Had to figure this myself.

It worked
Did the job

it is not well made
The pin for the tensioner does not fit. I used an alley wrench. The pin that holds the block is very thick. The only thing that worked very well was the camshaft tool, and that makes it a tool that works 40%, very poorly designed.
