Not hard to play but, very hard to play well. Nice extras from this seller.
I have always wanted a theremin and wish I would have had the money to buy when this was only $300 but said what the heck when my stimulus check came in. I like that it comes with a 1/4 inch male to male cord for amp connection and an ok pair of headphones so the wife doesn't want to run me off for playing it in the house. I love all the bells and whistles it has compared to a standard model but, it is a Moog after all so I think that's kind of an expected thing. Bob didn't let me down with this, it really is a blast to play around with. As I said it's easy to play but would take loads of practice to get really good at playing it profeciently. There are lots of videos on YouTube of people who are really pros that you can get great playing tips from. I'll be happy to get the Outer Limits and Star Trek themes down pat, then Ill be selling my theremini skills to the sci-fi movie world then, look out ...there is another crazy theremini player waiting to scare people with flying saucer sounds. Whoo-Hoo look out world those scary sounds you hear behind you might just be me, grinning like a loony and flinging my hands around wildly makng wild sounds. Michael James Fox Beavercreek, ohio

I have been a musician for 56 years. Why did I not discover this (or obviously its less advanced predecessors) 55 years ago?????
Amazing? yes. Difficult? VERY VERY. Potential: limited by your time and imagination. Overall: My best new toy (musical or other) of the last 20 years I was an early non-keyboard synth user (AKAI EWI). I have been around electronic music for 30+ years. The Theremini sets a new standard and goal. If you master this, you are an incredible musician. Have no doubts. This instrument requires LOTS of learning and practice. The potential is amazing. You can create great new sounds and improve your pitch sense on things like violins which have no frets or keys. You can be a solo player in an ensemble which requires many sounds. You can exploit automatic key and scale mode changes. Will this make me give up clarinet/sax/etc? NO. Will it be a new celebrated tool? YES. Is it a value??? YES if you want to learn a lot. NO if you want an easy toy.

All I expected and more.
The Theremini bundle (w. instrument cable and headphones) arrived on time and intact. I had it unboxed in minutes, plugged in, and ready to try out. Right away I was enjoying the various presets and just experimenting with my hands. The internal speaker doesn't give you much dynamic range but it sounds great through headphones (and will be awesome when I take the time to set my PA system up in the sun room and run it in stereo. I've been a musician for 40 years (guitar and bass) and I am already seeing ways I can use the Theremini in tandem with guitar - I can set a scale and a root for the key I'm strumming in and have the Theremini play along just my moving within varying distances from the antenna. (A volume pedal would be even more liberating for that type of playing). Wonderful and unique instrument.

Arrived safely in good working order
It's a theremin! The theremin arrived safe and in good working order. The headphones work, but are nothing fancy, but will be adequate for a beginner practicing without bothering the neighbors. The instrument cable is ready to go for plugging into a keyboard amp for when you are ready for the neighbors to hear you! Definitely think this theremin is good for a beginner, or somebody who has interest in the digital functions. The theremini has software you can download to change the presets, letting you give it new voices much like using a synth. Not quite as easy to calibrate as non-digital theremins, but being able to use and change your presets and use pitch correction and such is great for versatility. I'm happy with theremini, I feel it was worth what I paid.

Very cool and very relatively easy to use instrument
This is a very useful and practical instrument in music. I really like that you could very the amount of tonality that it has and that it has a number of different scales that you can use. I haven't tried a direct link to my recording studio yet, but that's next.

Great product - hard to learn
This is a great first theremin. You can set it to emulate an original theremin, or select from many variations of voices and pitch helpers. Even though I rated this product five stars, I chose to return it because it was just too difficult for me to learn.

Great instrument.
The finest quality and easy to learn. Geared toward helping you learn. Headset feature allows you to practice without bothering anybody. Onboard speaker is cheap, but will interface with sound system for a rich full sound.
