The hinge center works great for all but the tiniest hinges. Holding the center punch vertical you get a centered mark each time for the hinge screw or drilling a Pilot hole for the hinge screw

Starrett makes quality tools. They are pricey. But the work flawlessly.

Very precise hole centering tool. Very useful for hinges, drawer slides etc where precise screw location is paramount. Also very pricy...but it is Starrett and is of Starrett quality.

as with other Starrett auto-punches you have to take it apart, lube it, put it back together, maybe give the front spring a bit of an angle, but after that it works great

This Starret tool is about five times more expensive that those cheap Chinese ones sold at your hardware store, but it is one hundred times better. You only need one hand to use it, and that makes all the difference in the world. It delivers a perfectly centered punch hole every time. I only wish I had more hinges to install so that I could use it more often.

I have other tools for center marking but being able to mark using one hand is very valuable. It is high quality and easy to use when precision is needed for locating holes.

This is a precision engineered quality tool and does exactly what it's supposed to with very little effort. It's perfect for when you need to put a mark in a very difficult to reach area too. I have a much much cheaper auto punch and it requires much more heft to work. The Starrett ain't cheap but as always you get what you pay for.

Il punzone scende perfettamente centrato. prima usavo un marcatore giapponese comprato alla Dictum, ma il punzone era troppo sottile e scendeva a caso. Con questo della Starrett che costa su Amazon metà che su altri siti, ho risolto il problema.

For what it is, this is a pretty expensive centre punch (compared to my others). This punch works more like a bix bit for drilling rather than your typical punches. While the quality of the machining of this bunch is good, I find that the punch sometimes "sticks" and doesn't re-arm. Unscrewing it a little seems to reset it but it's definitely an annoyance.

Wenn ich an dieses Gewürge denke, wenn man mal den Ansetzpunkt für eine Senkkopfschraube beispielsweise bei der Montage eines Klavierbandes absetzen möchte - das ist hiermit endgültig gelöst. Den Preis habe ich schon völlig vergessen. Eine wirkliche Hilfe!
