Based on the DC character, Kara Zor-El (series star MELISSA BENOIST) decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents' help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster parents, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers (guest stars DEAN CAIN and HELEN SLATER), Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (series star CHYLER LEIGH), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman (TYLER HOECHLIN) in order to keep her identity a secret.Years later, Kara was living a "normal life" in National City and still concealing her powers, when a plane crash threatened Alex's life and Kara took to the sky to rescue her. In the aftermath, Kara decided she could no longer sit on the sidelines and came out as Supergirl. She now balances her job as a reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media, alongside her famous friend and Editor in Chief, James Olsen (series star MEHCAD BROOKS) with her work for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization run by her sister Alex. At the DEO, Kara also gets help from her friends, J'onn J'onzz (series star DAVID HAREWOOD), the Martian Manhunter, Brainac-5 (new series regular JESSE RATH), and Lena Luthor (series regular KATIE McGRATH), who doesn't know Supergirl's true identity is that of her best friend Kara Danvers.In season four, Supergirl is facing a bigger threat than she's ever faced before – a new wave of anti-alien sentiment, spreading across National City that's fomented by Agent Liberty (new series regular SAM WITWER). As Kara mentors a new reporter at CatCo, Nia Nal (new series regular NICOLE MAINES), and tries to use the power of the press to shine a light on the issues threatening to tear the city apart, Supergirl takes to the skies to battle the many villains who rise up in this era of divisiveness. But how does Supergirl battle a movement when she, herself an alien, represents one of the main things people are fearful of? great TV series
I love this TV series & it is worth watching & is better than the Supergirl the movie so I bought every Blu-ray for this TV series so now I am waiting for the 5th series to be released now so I can buy this series on Blu-ray too when it gets release

A slow start but a good end
While this season of Supergirl I reasonably good overall and finishes well, I wasn’t quite as enamoured with the beginning. I am unsure why this was as the series plot dealing with the rise of anti-alien hate groups is was relatively interesting and there were some reasonably good episodes even in this half. It could be due to the main villain for this half of the season, a villainous version of Agent Liberty, who I didn’t find terribly engaging outside of his origin episode (which did do a reasonable job of showing his descent into extremism). Things begin to improve with the introduction of Manchester Black (brilliantly played by David Ajala) who was reenvisioned as a Punisher-like vigilante. The final part of the season is easily the best, however with the introduction of Lex Luthor. Jon Cryer gives a great performance as the famous villain and is probably one of my favourite live action versions of the character. The season also sees a number of new characters from the comics make appearances, such as Menagerie and the Hat. There is also a subplot that is a loose Supergirl version of the Superman: Red Son story, with some Matrix Supergirl overtones, and I think would have been better as the main plot of the season with a little expansion. This season also includes the third part of the Elseworlds crossover event, but as I haven’t caught up with the other Arrowverse shows I haven’t been able to watch it yet. The CGI used this season is mostly good, with only a few dips in quality here and there. The DVD set has a number of special features from the usual Deleted Scenes and Gag Reel to featurettes for the Elsewords crossover and the 2018 Comic-Con Panels. There is also the Villains: Models of Persuasion, a featurette that talks about the villains of multiple DC TV shows that is quite interesting, even if it does include a lot of spoilers for people such as me who isn’t caught up with them.

I love watching superhero films. Supergirl is great and love the characters.

Great season
The original reviews I read about this season almost let me pass it by, but I am glad I didn't. Each episode made you want to see the next. Very pleased with the series so far.
