Best of Breed by Far
Many, if not most, of the earlier reviews touted this hub's physical characteristics and ability to charge other devices... and rightly so. But, for a variety of reasons, I was more interested in its ability to handle data storage devices which could add enormously to the potency and usefulness of a laptop computer. Bottom line? When it comes to accommodating external disk drives, this hub brings desktop-computer capacity to the laptop. I do not exaggerate here. My tests began by plugging the hub into a USB 3.0 port on my relatively muscular desktop computer. Then, I plugged FOUR WD Portable disk drives into the hub. As I pressed each of its convenient buttons one-by-one, my Windows OS quickly recognized the relevant drive and correctly displayed its folder and file content. Wondering how much this thing could handle, I disconnected one of the drives and replaced it with a non-powered hub which offered four additional ports. As an aside, this hub could not handle even one of my WD drives by itself. In any case, I plugged two drives into this non-powered hub, and both were almost immediately recognized by my OS which again accurately displayed its file and folder content. I didn't bother using the remaining two ports on the non-powered hub. I had no doubt whatsoever about the outcome. But, just to satisfy my curiosity. I plugged my tablet into the charging port on the powered hub. Of course, it worked fine. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If so, please take a quick glance at the one I've attached to this review. If you ever feel the need to give your laptop access to about 28 TERAbytes of stored data, this combination of hubs will do the job for you quite nicely! Before buying this nifty device, I checked about a dozen others. Best of breed? No doubt about it! -=-===-= ADDENDUM -=-=-=-= Turns out, the foregoing review was a bit premature. The day after I wrote these laudatory comments, one of the hub's four ports failed. The light went out and never lit up again. As if to prove every cloud does, indeed, have a silver lining, I soon discovered another hub which offers all of the desirable attributes of the RSHTECH hub but also features several significant improvements. I somehow overlooked this hub while surveying the field. Thus, my "best of breed" claim also turned out to be premature. At the moment, I'm looking at the new hub which is currently handling, SEVEN WD portable drives while simultaneously charging my tablet and one of my rechargeable battery packs. Here, too, I'm employing the same non-powered hub to provide the additional ports... which I probably will never need or use in the future. But my curiosity needed to be satisfied.

powered Usb hub for my telescope
This is just what I needed for use with my telescope. If you plan to use a usb hub for plugging all your astro gear into this works great. I plug my hand controller and guide camera into this hub and it is powered by my portable 12 volt power source . It then goes to my laptop computer so I can use PH2 guiding and also can control my scope mount. I had no issues with it , just plugged it into 12 volt power and then plug it into a usb port on your laptop ant your set. I also like that each usb plug has it's own power button so you can turn things off and on. I velcroed it to one of the tripod legs for use. I have been using it for about 3 or 4 months with no issues. I also like that it also has a usb power port at the top , so you could use it for a dew or whatever if needed... just one last thing, if you try and use a non-powered usb hub for this type of use it will not work, but this powered one works great...

Product works perfectly. Thanks!
EDIT: Updating to 5 stars because the item works at intended and the issue was my camera I was using a Logitech c615 camera which was causing issues with this USB hub as described below. A newer c922 webcam has fixed the problem and works perfectly with this USB hub. The problem was not the hub - the problem was with my camera. Original: The hub seemed to be perfect until I plugged in my phone to the red port and realized that it was causing weird interference/noise with my webcam that is plugged into a blue port. Moving my phone from the red charging port to a blue data port has fixed this problem but now the red port is useless. I paid $20 for this hub instead of $15 for a different 4 port hub which would provide me the same functionality.

Works great except for one port
A very nice hub - works great, solidly built, powered, individual on-off switch per port. My only issue is that one port shows up as USB 2 in Windows 10. Not a big deal, but I had to move around one my drives. Note that USB mouse receivers generally don't work with hubs due to interference (not an issue specific to this hub, just a general note).

meh... seems to be false advertising...read my review
promises, promises...yet no such delivery of them. I bought this powered usb hub as I often charge my LED under cabinet rechargeable lights using a hub. So very often I have all ports in use. Given that, my former unpowered USB hub would often be quirky and some items plugged in would quit charging if I plugged another in. Thus I bought this powered version... NO improvement as, even with NEW usb to usb-c cables....well, same thing happens as the old hub. The ONLY redeeming feature of this hub is the one port for rapid charging...and even that fails when attempting to charge my cell phone. Looking for a hub that can handle charging five or more usb items reliably and without crapping out on some ports

Fantastic Utility Powered USB (Data + Charging) Hub
This USB 3 HUB is exactly what I've been looking for. It has toggle on/off switches for each port which is great for hard drives and thumb drives, webcams, microphones etc. Very fast Data transfer speeds, as well as having an AC power adaptor is perfect for desktop machines where unplugging USB cables isn't practical but is common - the powered aspect is perfect for HDs that draw a lot of power. Perfect companion to my desktop mac computer. CONS -Slightly loose fit on the USB-B connection to the hub (not bad but not perfect) - Weight of the unit is a little light for me - so any tension on connected wires might allow the hub to slide

Can't use more than one port at a time
Had USB thumb drive on one port, USB hard drive on another, USB wireless keyboard on third. Any time you have two turned on, laptop would not recognize one or the other. Moving them around on different ports have the same problem. Trying any combination with two devices have the same problem. I specifically bought this with power cord just because of this problem with many USB hubs. What's the point of having a hub when only one device work at a time.

Best bang for your buck!!
This is the perfect USB hub for the price! It's great that it has an external power source so that when you simultaneously use all of the ports, they each have sufficient power and don't lag/shut down. The only downside is the length of the power supply cable. It's not very long, so if you're in a stretch to get to the nearest power source, it might be a little interesting. Other than that, it's worked perfectly!
