Sylvania 3157 ST SilverStar High Performance Halogen Miniature Lamp, (Pack of 2)

What can I say? When Sylvania came out with their Silverstar collection, back in the day, a lot of us took our kidneys out to purchase what we regarded as the "cool light". I admit, I got on the kidney selling bus to try to be different. Mind you, this was back then, when Japanese bulbs and double dipped bulbs, and cheap HID bulbs weren't as common now. Since those days, companies like PIAA and Philips have gone above and beyond Sylvania and have made products that are, not only cheaper, but they are better than Sylvania's products.That said, I bring you to Sylvania's 3157 Silverstar bulb. It's not blue. It's not cool. Let me paint you the picture:OEM lights are Amber, and DOT legal.PIAA Xtreme White lights are extremely white, and not exactly DOT legal.Sylvania........they're yellow. Only when you apply the full wattage do they turn 'white-ish'. But when placed in low voltage dormancy, waiting to be used as a blinker, they do not give you the greates of performance appearance.I drive a 2008 Mercury Milan. Orange wasn't the color for me, so I whited everything out, seeing as the car is white. I just ordered PIAA bulbs to complete it becuase when I decided to try these, they weren't what I was looking for. Look, there's nothing wrong with the bulb. They work. They're two colors in the end. But if you're like me, you were looking for something whiter. I suggest PIAA 19295, 3157, which is being discontinued. Those bulbs will give us what we want. And until I cave in and go with the LED craze, I'm content where I'm at. Good luck out there.

I bought 3 packs to replace all my Jeep Commander's Tail Lights...My car's manual called for 3057 bulbs,, but 3157 and 3057 are interchangeable,, so I am running on 3157s...These bulbs do NOT produce absolutely white color,, but they are really whiter and brighter than stock ones...My friend said he could see me clearly from 1 Mile away on the Highway at night...For your safety, these bulbs are highly recommended.. They are whiter, brighter, and safe for your light housings(not too hot)(if my housings can handle high heat, I would go for 3457 bulbs for extreme performance)...On the other hand, they are cheap(compare to LED stuff)... They are way more reliable than LED bulbs.....------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------... Bought on April.28, 2011... One of them ran out on June.10, 2012...... One year warranty,,, so true,,, warranty win...Just bought 2 packs of 3157 and now going for 3457 for reverse lights.....3057 , 3157 , 3257 , 3357 , 3457 are interchangeable, 3457 is the brightest and has highest heat.....

One running brake light filament burned out for my passenger brake light so I replaced the worn bulb and did a side by side. The output from the new silverstar bulb was somewhere between single and dual filament on condition with the other, outgoing bulb. When the hazards flashed the second element of the Silverstar the brake light housing was seriously more illuminated (appropriate proportion for runners and brakes).I elected to install a new spare standard Wagner 921 in the good housing and the performance was similar enough for me to declare the Silverstar a solid winner in output. The light housing for a Cobalt is rather transparent and I am inclined to believe that part why I can so clearly see the difference is lack of diffusion from thicker plastic brake lights. I can see my bulb and reflector quite clearly through the lens. Reviews of these bulbs on f150Forums and an Acura-centric message board left me with the impression that a difference may not have been noticeable. In my application, there surely is.Best power on estimate for the OEM Wagner 921 is 1,000 hours. Using the same calculatory discipline, I will comment the life I get out of these... hopefully in three years or so.

I noticed the brake light on one side of my 2005 Nissan Armada was no longer working. Took out the old bulb, checked the number (3157), and ordered these. I was able to save $1.50 with a clipped coupon on Amazon, and since I am a Prime member, I ordered them on a Thursday and got them the following Saturday. I was a little worried at first because these bulbs have a blue tint to them, but the bulb that I was replacing was clear. Once installed and tested, though, the replacement worked perfectly. I highly recommend them since my experience with them was so positive...didn't even have to drive down to the local auto parts store! If anything changes I'll update this review, but thus far, a five star product.

Not really any brighter than the ones I replaced, but they work as DRLs so they are fine. I have tried Silver Star Ultras for the headlights and could see a difference. Was expecting them to be at least as bright as the ones in there, which they are. Would have like to have been a bit brighter.

I bought these before and they sure do get the job done. Yea, you could get a cheaper yellow looking bulb if you want, but I like how these look. Plus, Amazon's prices still continue to amaze me. I put these in my reverse lights, as my back window in my Grand Cherokee is tinted dark and at night I could barely see out it. They light the area behind the Jeep much better than the normal 3157 bulbs.They do what they're supposed to do, make brighter than normal light. No they aren't halogen lights ready to light the night sky, but they definitely put out more light than a standard bulb.UPDATE: Now more than 3 years later, I am still running the same bulbs and they are still shining bright. VERY happy with them still.

These typically last about five to five and a half years and are really bright. But, I prefer L.E.D. lights, so get those if your can find some that work with your car.
