Singing Goldfinch - Plant Pal Soil Moisture Meter (Finch Sings When Plant Is Thirsty!)

Product worked for only 1 day!! I should’ve believed all the others’ reviews. On second day, the sound alarm went off and won’t stop, even though the plant did not need water.The reason I went ahead and bought this item, two pieces no longer, is because I have one which I bought at Walgreen over a year ago. It continues to work as expected and it’s very helpful in letting me know when my plant needs water.You know I thought it was low batteries, tried buying new ones. But no retail store has these cell batteries size AG 12(?), pardon I forgot the size. Point is you can’t buy them anywhere except online. I never bought them, decided to cut my lose and not spend more money given there is no guarantee.

Once the leads were placed in the soil and watered it would stop chirping for a day or so, then back to chirping. There is no incremental moisture sensitivity. The leads need to be in very wet soil to not chirp. Daily watering is not an ideal solution. My solution to this was to bury a piece of sponge in the soil then insert the leads into the sponge. This increased the time it took for the sponge to dry out and cause the chirping to a couple days. The soil that I am trying to monitor is for an indoor orange tree. The orange tree seems to drink a lot more water than any of the other tropical plants that I have. It needs watering every 7-10 days. If I forgot to water more than 10 days it would start dropping leaves. I expected the chirping soil moisture to chirp around the 7 day mark but it doesn't work this way for me.

Originally I purchased 2 Goldfish. One worked, one didn't. That was about a year ago and I discarded the broken one. I have been thrilled with the bird until it quit working. I ordered a new one and it didn't work. I opened the battery compartment and it was very obvious it was a return after someone attempted to fix it. I ordered a new one and thankfully it works. I didn't return the broken one because I didn't want it given to another buyer. The bird is the only device I've found that helps me keep my plants alive and I'll keep buying them. Just know that it's a 50/50 gamble that it will work.

Most people over the age of 60 aren’t going to hear this high-pitched chirping. At least that was the case for me. In essence, it’s pretty useless.

All in all, I ordered SIX (6) singing birds - 2 goldfinch, 2 blue jay, 2 cardinal !! when I received them ALL had dead batteries except for one (1) goldfinch and one (1) cardinal !!!

As DescribedI have bought them in the past and found the reliability of the circuitary to be poor. I hope this one is better

It didn't chirp in the plant I bought it for. Because I relied on a chirp for a plant that is hanging in a high place the plant is now dead. So I put it in another plant that is within easy reach and the crazy thing won't quit chirping even when the plant is very wet. I can't win. One day when I have time I will see if I can figure out the problem.

I was excited to use these and ordered two of them but both were defective. One wouldn't chirp at all and the other one wouldn't stop chirping no matter which pot I put it into. I had to return them both.

It is exactly what the person whom I purchased it for wanted. It is a great way to keep up on plant watering without doing it to often and killing the plant.
