The other reviews which mention no smell seem to be from people who purchased a few years ago. I bought this cargo mat 2 and a half months ago. The smell was horrendous! The smell was a mixture of chemicals and tar. After airing out my new vehicle, 2 air fresheners and vent clips the smell is finally almost completely gone. It's a nice cargo mat and easy to trim so that it fits perfectly, but getting past the strong odor is a challenge.

Does it have a smell?

It does have a "rubber" smell to it initially. However, after a few days it dissipates. An air freshener or a few sprays of Febeeze helps.

Yes, it smells like tar! The item I received smelled so bad, I had to remove it from the garage, and brought it outside. After 10 days I can still smell it 30 feet down wind. It will not go in my car with the strong tar smell.
