I was so tired of the inconsistentcy of the hand pliers version. I finally broke down and got this. Whereas I still need to put a lot of pressure onto it.. LIFE CHANGING! It is so much easier to use a d put together. It is heavy and solid!! It looks ro be made well and tbe eyelets look professional!

Overall, I am very pleased with this press considering the price. I had none of the alignment issues that some other reviewers mentioned. The instructions that came with my unit were adequate but not perfect. The instructions consist of a single statement size sheet of paper. Mine were very faded and torn up from being thrown in the box with the press (See attached image). The photos and directions were very clear and understandable (though hard to read due to being torn and faded). The instructions note that it is possible to press grommets in thin material without pre-punching. While it can be done, it is very cumbersome since the upper die is not magnetic and does not hold the washer in place. I have successfully done it but it's not worth the trouble so i just pre-punch everything. (Harbor Freight has an eight piece punch set for under ten bucks that includes the three sizes included with this press.) Pros: -Good value for the money -Solid construction -Does not take much arm strength -Am able to easily use portable without fastening to workbench -Comes with three die sets -Nice assortment of grommets Cons: -Grommets are very lightweight (though it makes them very easy to press) -Many of the grommet washers are deformed -Dies are not magnetic -For all practical purposes, even thin material must be pre-punched -Instructions are a mixed bag

Bought this to make Kydex Holsters and to put Grommets in Canvas. Well made casting has pretty good finish on it. Mounted it to small wood plate that I clamp to my bench. Tried all three die sets. and provided grommets. Works fine. has good leverage for small press. Crimped 1/4 brass eyelets and the aluminum grommets included with ease. So much easier than hand punch you use with hammer. So much cheaper than Arbor press and with the dies included perfect.

Broke only 4 months in. Bought in August broke in december

Tired of hand setting, I purchased this press for setting .250" eyelets on Kydex projects (Knife and scissor sheaths, tool and pistol holsters). While the press looks great out of the box, it did not work until I reworked the rough surfaces. Quality Control is an issue. The handle would not operate and the ram had enough burrs on it to use as a rasp. It took an inordinate amount of pressure to pull the operating handle down. The handle was impinging on the ram pushing it rearward causing it to bind on the frame. The machined slot on the ram is where all the burrs were. Likely because of a dull/worn/chipped tool during the machining operation. I took the press apart and removed some metal from the operating handle where it contacted the side the ram. The ram's slot edges were touched up with a file and slightly chamfered. The top surface of the ram was polished smooth. After 20 minutes of minor grinding, smoothing, polishing, and reassembly, this press is as smooth and silky as any of my reloading presses. If it worked out of the box like I made it work, I would have given it 5 stars. The press is solid and well suited for this kind of work. Note: The included eyelets are junk. Too thin/weak a material and likely best suited to light thin fabrics.

I’ve only been using this for 1 day so only time will tell how long it will last, but I’ve punched and crimped over 100 holes in that time. This tool has lived up to all my expectation so far and has done the job it was purchased for. I’m using it to make curtains for my Airstream and it works well.

The press itself is definitely heavy. Although I did not receive the eyelets/grommets that were supposed to come with it. Definitely well made.

The base is not smooth and leveled, other wise its a very good device to install eyelets.

It snapped in half the first time I used it Important facts I am 4’11 I can maybe lift 30 pounds It also did not come with the punching die I specifically bought it for but that’s not really the main issue

Cons 1. It came with the threading for the dies to go gunked up so, some scrubbing is required before use. 2. The dies does not line ip therefore when you press the grommets the end result is dented and lopsided. Pros 1. It’s cast metal so it’s durable Conclusion: I’ll make it work with fenagling some sort of way to use the default dies that comes with the grommets I already have and literally just use this thing as a press. For a product it’s not very good, but it will help me not get noise complaints with my hammering the hundreds of grommets I need for my project.
